"What are you doing here?"
"Wow. I'm so happy to see you too," Kai deadpanned, covering Cole's mouth with his hand and pushing him away. Apparently too sick for a kiss but not too sick to traverse into the outside world.
Cole adjusted the strap of his bag. "Sorry. Hey, Love, nice to see you. What are you doing here?"
Clicking his tongue, Kai pulled him out of Shintaro's lobby, probably complaining about his lovely manners but his other hand caught Cole's attention. Unlike Kai's, despite it being them clutching the flowers, they didn't even glance at them. Not even as they fixed their grip on them, which caused Cole's hand to survive the cold and lonely world.
"Anyway, there's this exhibition, and it's focused on fashion through the centuries. What do you say? We could go."
"Sounds great, but maybe when you stop looking like a light breeze is gonna send you into an early grave."
"What? I'm fine," Kai argued, his voice still lower than normal.
"You wanna say that again?"
"I would like to say a lot of things, yeah, but they probably aren't suitable for public spaces."
"Aw, come on, I love the idea," he snuck a kiss on their cheek, "but I'd rather you get well first." Kai's huffing and eye rolls kept tugging at the corners of his lips. "For your own good, you know, but I'm kinda sick of playing this kind of doctor too."
"I don't want you to get sick, it's called being kind."
"But you would go to a museum with me."
"Well, I wouldn't kiss anyone there, would I?" And he chuckled when they pushed him aside. Yet his eyes kept drifting to the omitted orange flowers. "By the way, Mr Get Well Soon, where's your jacket?"
Cole cleared his throat. "At home. It's not cold."
Nodding, Kai hummed. "Sure. Sure..."
"Why don't you tell me about the flowers? Are they for me?" With the way he kept flailing them around, Cole could blame him for baiting him into talking about them, and not his own curiosity.
Narrowed eyes challenged him. "Why do you assume they're for you?"
"I dunno." Cole shrugged, and pretended to care about where they were walking to hide the interest that for sure beamed from his face. "Are they?"
Mirroring him, Kai stared ahead. "... Maybe." They shrugged as well. "But I thought we were going on a date so I might keep them for myself."
"How about a date over some hot tea and paralen?"
"You are so romantic," Kai mused, stopping in front of him. He passed the flowers over in a gentle manner that did not reach his expression. "You don't have to worry about putting the purple roses in water, they're chocolate."
Pressing the bouquet close to his chest, Cole mimicked his very kind, very loving and not at all sarcastic smile. "I'm glad you think so highly of me." He managed to steal a kiss for himself, and his lips still tasted sweet.
