3rd Point Of View

"What are you doing out here?" Choso asked Mahito, closing (Y/n)'s bedroom door behind him as he stepped out so that she wouldn't hear him and Mahito converse. Mahito attempted to speak, but ended up choking on his own sobs.
"I j-just..." The curse began shakily, "I just wanted t-to wait for her to come out s-since you wouldn't let me in." Choso's jaw clenched as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Is what she said all true? Did all those terrible things really happen to her?" Mahito asked Choso tearfully. Choso pursed his lips, slowly nodding, unsure if (Y/n) would want Mahito to know the truth about her past. Choso truly didn't know what to do. It's not like he had the ability to erase Mahito's memories.
"You cannot tell her that you know this information." Choso told the curse, watching as he sniffled, staring up at him with sad eyes.

Choso sighed, looking down at the curse.
"Come with me." The half-curse then said, motioning for Mahito to follow him down the hall, towards his own bedroom- with honestly, he was never in. He opened his door for what felt like the first time, entering with Mahito hot on his tail. His room was bland, undecorated and seemingly brand new. Choso closed the door once Mahito was inside, watching as the curse immediately moved to sit on his bed.

"Why didn't she tell me?" Mahito asked with a hurt tone as he sat down. Choso sighed as he stood infront of Mahito who went from crying to sulking.
"Humans prefer to keep their trauma to themselves." Choso told the curse, making Mahito shake his head as if he disagrees with Choso's reasoning.
"No! I mean... that's not why I'm-it's just..." Mahito couldn't seem to find the right words, confusing Choso.

"(Y/n) used to announce to everyone that she was going to bed, and always warned everyone to not disturb her." Mahito began explaining, his eyes downcast as he spoke. Choso began understandimg where this was going.
"I naturally assumed the worst- like what if she were sneaking a guy in or something?" Mahito bitterly laughed.

"So, I'd sneak in her room- multiple times to see if I could catch her. But everytime, she really was just sleeping. I mean- she held flowers in her hands like she was laying in a coffin or something but I don't think that wasn't anything worth hiding." Mahito joked, not understanding that that was what she was hiding. Not the flowers itself- but what it represented.

"When she'd wake up and see me in her room, she'd freak out and start screaming and hitting me with things. I always thought it was just us playing around. Thirty minutes later, she'd calm down and apologise for being so rough with me." Mahito said, his bottom lip shaking as he said, "I never understood before...but I understand now."
"Everytime she woke up, she didn't see me standing over her...she saw them." Mahito told Choso with tears in his eyes.

"Why wouldn't she tell me?" Mahito cried, sniffing with a pink nose, "I would have stopped the first time. I just thought we were playing around? T-the last thing I wanna do is hurt (Y/n)." At that last comment, Choso's brows furrowed. He didn't understand. Curses won't supposed to feel attachment like the ones in this estate do to (Y/n), not unless they were curses under her control as a curse user. But these spirits were their own. It was odd.

"You care about (Y/n)." Choso commented, not sounding as jealous as he thought he would- but just curious.
"Well, yeah... everyone does." Mahito answered, as if were the most obvious thing, "(Y/n) is the reason that her brother hasn't absorbed us curses."
"She is?" Choso asked immediately, not realising that this was the case. Mahito nodded as he rubbed his nose.

"We were all recruited by (Y/n)... not Suguru." Mahito began to explain, "You know by now that Geto sends his sister out on missions to retrieve powerful curses that he can absorb. We were all once part of that list. Hanami, Jogo and I became the only few exceptions. (Y/n) fought for us to stay." Choso didn't understand that. (Y/n) was a sorcerer at heart, surely she'd be okay with a couple of curses being absorbed.

"Why?" Choso found himself asking, making Mahito shrug weakly.
"I'm not really sure. What she said to Geto was that we'd be useful for his plan- but of course, that's not the real truth. She couldn't care less about his plan." Mahito chuckled to himself.
"I think that she just found it hard to let her brother absorb a curse that she bonded with." Mahito told the cursed womb spirit.

"Bonded with?" Choso echoed, now letting out a hint of jealousy.
"When we met, we had an argument about whether or not a soul and a life force were the same thing. The argument lasted three hours before Kai had enough and wrapped his froggy little tongue around me and swallowed me." Mahito chuckled, reminiscing.
"And is it like this for the others?" Choso asked curiously.

"Everyone has their own unique story, yes. We are all still surviving because (Y/n) willed it. We're indebted to her." Mahito said with pursed lips.
"Then... pay off your debt by keeping her past a secret, treat her the way you always have and do not show her any pity. That is not what she needs from you." Choso told the curse, making him frown, nodding slowly with understanding.

"Good, now let us leave. I must prepare to bake."
