Chapter 13

One day, two, three, a week, two weeks, it has been exactly two weeks since I last spoke to manik but the good thing was navya and Cabir are back. They got me so many skittles, not just the hard chewy ones but the gummy ones and the sour and ahh just all of it. It's like candy heaven

They did scold me for having a whole bag in one day but here is my logic to that, you have one every 5 to 20 minutes and boom it's all gone in 24 hours, not my fault right

"Nandini" cabir calls coming in my cabin

"Yeah? Whats up my dude?" I ask turning my chair around

"There is a problem" he says

"Okay and what is the problem?"

"The math to this stupid thing doesn't add up" he says handing me a document

"Sit down my lord" he chuckles a bit hearing me as he sits

"So, mhm I noticed you ignoring manik" he says

"So this isn't about the papers now is it?" I ask putting the papers down

"No, not really" I laugh hearing him, cabir is never good at distractions, he always ends up smiling the truth

"I am not ignoring him" I reply

"Oh you are, he came over a couple days ago and as soon as you saw him, you left. Not to mention any other meetings he had attended, you were staring at you I pad like it is the most interesting thing you have ever seen" jeez, I didn't know he'd pick up on these things

so a couple days ago I went over to cabir and navy's house just cause and then manik showed up and I grabbed my stuff and went home because I am not dealing with this bullshit anymore

"it's not like that, I think we are just being cordial" I say very very professionally

"Quit the act cutie, what's going on?" He asks

"Nothing, I don't like him, I don't want him around me, it's simple as that" I lean back into my chair

"It wasn't an actual bet or challenge Nandini"

"Oh really? because for a fact I know you hyped him up telling him he can't be cordial and nice to me and then he was probably all watch me" I mumble folding my arms around my chest

"Well" I raise my eye brow at him

"Fine, it was like that, exactly how it happened actually but Nandini he didn't have to take care of you, that wasn't even in the discussion. All I had mentioned was checking in on you every couple days and see if you needed anything but he went out of his way and did what he felt like"

"Oh yeah he did, called me a fucking charity case so forgive me if I don't wanna be in the same room as him" he sighs a little

"He runs his mouth"

"He sure does and he can continue to but he isn't getting a reply from me" I mumble interrupting him

"You and him are literally kids, I swear neither one of you will sit and clear it out"

"There is nothing to clear, him and I hated each other then I thought we were becoming friends but we aren't and can't be so the least we can do is become cordial with each other"

"He did ask how your foot was" he whispers

"Yeah? interesting, I already had to go up to his cabin to talk for a minute so ill deal wiht it there"

"Stop smirking it's creepy" Cabir says making me laugh

"It isn't"

"It is, I feel like I need to have ambulance on speed dial" giggling I got up hugging him

"Trust me if I do hurt him, you won't see the scars" I whisper but instead of laughing Cabir pulls back

"Don't ever say that nandini and not to him for sure" he sounded really serious

"Why?" I ask

"He may be an asshole but he has scars too nandini, and yes he is fucking ridiculous and fights with you a lot but I promise you he is broken inside"

I felt uneasy hearing cabir, I would have never guessed Manik has gone through something as well

"He is trying to be okay as well and trust me when he was around you the whole month I didn't once need to make sure he was okay because his energy was all yours and I knew that if he were to do something stupid, you'd call me right away"

"What do you mean by that?"

"Its his place to tell you his story if he wishes to but know he hurt you with his words, don't be him and hurt him back with your words"

"I would never cabir, you know the things I have gone though, I could never in a million years run my mouth to hurt him or anyone"

"I know cutie, I'm sorry if I sounded harsh but both you mean the world to me, I can't take one's side and not the others. Yes he made a terrible mistake by calling you charity, or by doing what he did but I can't also disregard the fact that you judged him too quick. He was joking about the challenge and the bet, yes I did challenge him but it is only a challenge if he wants something in return"

'Well he did, time away from me, that's what he said didn't he?"

"Nandini he was messing around with me, tell me when he has avoided a situation where you were present?"

"doesn't matter cabir" I mumble

"Forget this, did you want some iced coffee?" He asks making me smile

"Can I come over later like int he evening and you make me that vanilla one you make" I ask

"Of course, oh and if you do go talk to him, beat his ass" I laugh hearing him

"Im gonna go now, I have a couple meetings"

"Okay bye, ill see you int he evening"

"Take care of yourself okay" he mumbles kissing my head

"You too cabu"

Once he left I couldn't help but think about the things Manik could have went through and why cabir is so touchy with him, I mean yes I know when cabir and navya both, when hey love someone they stick it through everything like they did with me but Manik seems so intimidating and tough so I just assumed he was just a tough nut to crack

"Whatever, why does it even matter girl, forget it" I mumble to myself
