Chapter 30

"It's getting colder and you need to sleep so lets go and I will bring you back here whenever you want, I can even show you prettier places back close to our house"

"Really?" She asks

"Yes darling"

She nods getting up

"Mani I wanna take a picture with you" she says making me smile

When she said a picture, she meant a billion of us together some of mine and a whole lot of the view but finally she gets in the car.

Instantly I notice her teeth chattering a bit making me frown, I had offered her my jacked that was in the car but she refused

"You are a stubborn head" I mumble turning the heat up all the way

"N-no I I want you" she slurs some of her words

I quickly unbuckle her brining her to my chest, I sat her in a way that she was tucked in my chest. I put the seat belt over us and my jacket as well

"Ma-mani it's cold" she whispers

"I know little mouse, just a few minutes and I promise the heat will start working" I say rubbing her back

she holds onto my t shirt while.

"You can drive" she says

"No it's okay"

"Please" she whispers

Sighing a little I start to drive back but the whole way back I was caressing her back with one hand, she was fine after about 10 minutes into the drive but she was exhausted

"I no change" she mumbles throwing her sandals off

"You have to love, these shorts will be uncomfortable"

"Nooo" she whines

"Come on sweet girl, it'll take 5 minutes"

"no no"

"How about you race me and if you win then I will get you anything you want" I try convincing her

"Anything?" She asks tilting her head

"Yes anything"

She grins running to the bathroom with her clothes making me laugh, she is adorable. I got changed as well and this girl grins like she won the lottery coming out of the bathroom

"Yess?" I ask

"You are going to get me yummy coffee in the morning is the cool?" She asks

"Of course but just one"

"Oh no no, as many as I want. Don't be stingy little millionaire"

"Sweetheart, don't insult me, I'm a billionaire"

"A handsome one, thats for sure" she says laying in my arms

"Did you enjoy yourself tonight?" I ask caressing though her hair

"It's tangled" she says pouting

"I know, it's okay"

"I did enjoy tonight and this trip wiht you. I think I want more of such trips" she says making me smile

"The next one will be to Goa" I tell her

"Goa? Why Goa?" She asked

"I have a meeting there in about a month and if you don't have anything important to do at the office, id love to make it a weekend trip"

"When is it?"

"Friday on the 24th"

"I think I'm free that day, I might have some emails to write but I can do then in the car"

"Flight, we will be flying"

she hums putting her head on my chest.

I have never felt so at peace with anyone, my whole life I have been running, I have been running not behind success but behind peace. I tried boxing, piano, talking to Cabir, but nothing has really worked and all of a sudden this 5 foot nothing lady has me wrapped around her fingers

I remember her mentioning it a while back when we were arguing but I just scoffed at her. She is so god damn right, she was right and she is right, I would do anything this one would ask and tell me, anything I swear.

"Goodnight Manik" she whispers playing with my chain

"Goodnight Nandini" I whisper kissing her head

She falls a sleep so fast around me, and I love it. I know the things she has been through aren't easy and the reason I know that is because her eyes become blank any time something is said related to her pas, her eyes tear up a lot but she never says anything

It doesn't even matter what had happened because I would never look at her any different, but fuck, if someone hurt her I swear I'll dig the person out of his own grave if I have to and I will punish them.

"Manik" her voice as she jumps a little in my arms

"Shh what's going on?"

"Man-manik I, no he, I" she was scrambling for words as she looks around

"Shhh im right here, look up" I whisper

Her eyes turn around and look into mine, the same blankness that I was just thinking about was visible

"It's okay my little star, you are okay. Calm down" I kiss her head

"You are here" she asks or says, I wasn't sure

"I am, see im right here and you are just lying on me, everything is okay" I whisper

She looks around a little and finally rests her head on my chest, her hands held onto my t shirt fisting her little hands making me smile. I kept giving her tons of kisses and caressing her back and finally after a while her eyes close and she falls a sleep.

"I love you" I whisper kissing her head before closing my eyes as well

She is my little star, my light!
