***Jacob POV***

"You really don't have to come. I've got this," I basically gruffed in a low tone, trying not to completely snap at Issac Green.

"I'm happy to come. Plus, you have a sister at that party too right? What if you end up needing to help her? Then I'll be there to help River," Issac replied as his long strides easily kept up with mine. I wanted to fight his logic and explain that I was more than capable of seeing to both River and Parisa's safety at this moment, however I didn't have the strength to argue. I should have known this night would be chaos, hence why I tend to go to as few of parties as possible.

"Are we even allowed to enter that subdivision? You know... the one the humans party in," Issac asked.

"River shared her location with me. She's somehow run through the woods that bleed into Heidelberg Park,"

"Oh, yeah I guess that is right near that subdivision,"

"Near to us... I'm surprised River ran that far that fast to be honest,"

"She must like running. That's kind of what she'd been doing when I found her,"

"Found her?" What the h3ll did he mean by found her.

"Oh, that's how River and I met. I found her in my backyard one day after school,"

"What?"

"I think she'd uh... sorta had a not so good day, so she ditched class and after running through the woods behind the school, and she ended up at my place. I live super close to school, but it must have been super far for a human,"

No. If Issac had met River on the day she'd skipped class, that means he'd basically met her because of our- less than pleasant lunch with Candace. I didn't mean for River to feel like I was talking about her with Candace, or like I felt like she was less fortunate in the slightest. If anything, I feel like River and I are practically cut from the same cord. We both love art. We're both adopted. We're part of mixed families. Now we both have parents in jail. It feels rare to find this many parallels with someone.

"It must be cool to have a human sister," Issac said, changing the subject. I was starting to realize Issac seemed to have a nervous need to talk. I don't need to talk to him right now, but I guess I can be polite, ugh.

"Do you have any siblings?"

"Nope. But don't worry, I think I'm still pretty well adjusted. Not that other only-children aren't well adjusted, but you know... I did a lot of sports growing up, so I still made friends and stuff... You ever thought about trying out for any sports?"

"No."

"Oh... Isn't your sister on the human soccer team?"

"Yeah."

"That's cool. I've um- I heard she's very good at soccer,"

What was with this Issac Green?! He's so awkward. And what's with him bringing up Parisa?! Does he want to take her to Fall Ball too?! Pssh, good luck prying her away from that stupid Eric guy she's been dating. I don't like Eric, and I feel like Parisa only dates him to fit her popular sports girl persona, but whatever. As long as he doesn't hurt her, I guess they can continue being annoying.

Talking with Issac reminded me of the fact that even though I wasn't popular, people tended to know stuff about me and my family just cuz my dad's been in the news. First he was in the news for starting Fuse, and becoming the richest giant in New Earth- which basically meant he was as rich as a lot of humans, but it was rare for giants... so that's cool. Then my dad was in the news for being the first giant to legally marry and adopt a human. He married Morgan's mom, and of course adopted Morgan. That's part of our history lessons now. And then there's obviously been a ton of other news coverage over the years from when Morgan had apparently been part of a custody battle between my dad and her bio dad. That's around the time when I joined my family.
