***JACOB POV***
"Lighten up dude! I'm sure Parisa's fine," Trevor said as he nudged me with more force than I appreciated. I haven't been able to get in touch with Parisa since she'd excused herself to go to the restroom earlier. She'd looked upset, so I wanted to give her a moment to compose herself, as I know how closed off Parisa can be when she gets like that. Also, selfishly I wanted the chance to steal a dance with River before Issac made it to the co-ed section. Of course my time dancing had been short, as Issac promptly arrived... River's real date
"Where's your date anyway?" I asked.
"Brenda's taking pictures with the rest of the yearbook committee. Don't worry, she'll be back soon, and maybe some of her friends will be looking to dance," Trevor replied with a suspiciously confident smirk.
"You want to dance with her friends?"
"No! I figured since some of Brenda's friends didn't have dates you might as well dance with one of them,"
"I'm good,"
"Gods you've got it bad for that River girl. You need to makeout with a giantess tonight, and that'll get your mind off her,"
"No, it wont, " I declared, not even attempting to deny his claim about River. I did have it bad for River, especially after just dancing with her. The sensation of her tiny frame pressed against me with her face against my chest. Mother earth I could spend all night dancing with her, if only...
"All else fails you've got Candace around here somewhere,"
"H#ll no," I replied with a humorless laugh. I hadn't even thought about Candace recently, not with everything going on with River, Eric being missing, and Kerry Redington popping up. The last person I've had time to think about was Candace. Now that I take a second to imagine being here with her tonight, it's clear I'd rather be here dateless, but with the chance of dancing with RIver, than be here with Candace all night.
"You should have seen her face when I told her about the other night with River," Trevor said, and my stomach sank.
"What? Why would you tell Candace that? Why would you even talk to Candace?!"
"Bro, calm down. You're not into her now, I was just making that clear to her,"
"Yeah but she already had a problem with River... I just- I wish you didn't say anything to her. Candace doesn't need a reason to... I don't know..." I guess it's a good thing River was with Issac as it at least keeps her out of Candace's reach. Once I'd heard about how Candace had basically threatened River, I could only imagine how rude she'd be to River now that we were broken up. Ugh.
"Mangello!" A deep voice snapped in a tone that jolted me out of my thoughts about Candace. I turned and was surprised to see Issac Green storming toward me, and man did he look unhappy. It was pretty unsettling to see. Issac is usually so annoyingly happy. I wonder what happened? I quickly looked down at his hands, and my stomach sank when I saw they were balled into fist. River should be in those hands. Had something happened? Sh#t! Had Issac hurt her?!
"Where's River?" I asked as soon as I was closer to Issac.
"I don't want you hanging out with River anymore," Issac declared through gritted teeth. Where in all of New Earth did this come from?
"Dude what?"
"I know you like her, and that you always try and make me look bad,"
"I'm pretty sure you do that on your own,"
"Shut it!" Issac said, stepping closer and reminding me of how he'd been at the post football party. This usually friendly dude could really be intimidating when he wanted to be. I guess that makes sense being a football player. Issac puffed his chest out and stood so close to me that I felt oddly small, and I wasn't even a particularly short giant. I mean, I was used to feeling short living with my dad who was the tallest giant I've ever seen, but my dad tends to downplay his size. Right now Issac wasn't trying to downplay his size one bit.
