| Chapter Forty — It's finally time to leave all this shit behind |

"Minghao! Where are—" Joshua screams, yelping when someone jumps on him suddenly. He coughs as they wrap their arms around his throat, putting him in a chokehold.

"Need help?" And then, the guard is gone, falling to the floor in a puddle of his own blood. Joshua rolls his eyes when Seungcheol twirls his knife like a baton, "I'm great,"

"Don't be too cocky," Joshua sighs, fingers tightening on his gun, "Duck."

And Seungcheol does just so, a bullet flying through the air, blasting right through another guard's head, blowing out his brain like a kettle of popcorn that pops in the microwave.

"Touché," Seungcheol smirks.

Joshua rolls his eyes, tapping his earpiece, "Sunoo-yah, have you made it?"

"Hansol hyung and I, yeah," He tells him, "We're just around the E hall— nothing yet. We're going down F now,"

"Copy that. Gyu?"

"I'm in A, close to B. Nothing yet." Mingyu responds, "Keep an eye out. We know he's here, just not where."

"Copy," Joshua replies, "Wonwoo?"

"Jihoon and I just reached X. Nothing. We're on our way to Y."

"Copy, over."

Across the building, Sunoo and Hansol keep their weapons steady, shooting down a guard every once and awhile.

"This is a bloodbath," Sunoo's face scrunches in disgust at the large hole punctured through the dead guard's body. These new guns given to Carmine were fucking crazy.

"This? No," Hansol replies, "Wayyyy before you joined, Mingyu murdered 163 people right in front of me," He says it so nonchalantly even when it's literally verbal whiplash, "That's why Amaranth doesn't exist anymore."

"Amaranth?" Sunoo repeats.

"Yeah—" Hansol's pushed up against the wall by a sudden guard. He merely rolls his eyes, shooting the guy dead in seconds. He continues speaking like nothing happened, walking alongside Sunoo again and ignoring the splattered blood coating his cheek, "Coquelicot was a gang. They stole something valuable of Mingyu's and wouldn't return it. Killing them was the only way to retrieve it. They were known for not negotiating."

"What was it?" Sunoo asks.

Hansol pauses, folding his lips together, "I'm sure you'll know in time," He says, sighing, "Now come on, we gotta find Minghao,"

Just a floor up, Jihoon and Wonwoo jog down the halls, coated in blood and breathing heavily.

"They're fucking trained up here, huh?!" Jihoon groans, leaning up against the wall as he reloads his gun.

"Well, I would assume," Wonwoo responds, "I read online that the higher the floor is, the more heavily the prisoners are guarded."

Jihoon blinks, frozen, "So, the most dangerous criminals are all the way up there?" He points upwards.

Wonwoo nods, "I guess, yeah."

Jihoon clicks his tongue, cursing under his breath as he smacks Wonwoo's arm harshly, "You dumbass! Why didn't you tell any of us that before?!"

"Because looking around the whole prison would be better! We can't be too sure that's where they've put him!" Wonwoo rubs the inflamed skin of his arm, "That would waste time— Just like how we're sitting here talking, instead of searching."
