Yashmin's POV
Today would be my first day back in school since my change. My dad didn't want me going. He insisted I stay out at least two more days but mom was adamant that being a vampire and a ghost wasn't a career.
I chuckled lightly when she told dad, I wasn't about to become a delinquent.
I was most excited about seeing Leona today. I have not seen her in a while. I thought as I stepped out of the car. I said bye to mom and dad and then I proceeded to walk away.
The air lingered with many different aromas; I could smell happiness, fear, sadness, spices and terrible odors.
My vision was so clear and precise , I could see a bee at the side of the school, pollinating a flower.
I pushed my hair behind my eyes and listened, it was as if all the noises in my environment was coming in at once.
I quickly did what dad taught me an I listened for the voice I wanted and then i focus soley on it. Eventually the rest filtered out. And the noise in my head decreased to one voice.
It was Leona and she was in class. I thought as I hurriedly made my way there. I came upon the door to English class. I pushed it opened and I entered.
She embraced me into a hug. I felt as if she was trying to release the air from my lung and permanently kill me. Well the joke is on you Lee Lee, am already dead, I said as I laughed aloud.
"What's so funny Yash?"
Before I could answer my teacher interrupted. "Yes Miss McCleary do tell but first go to your seat. So I can go on with my class if that's OK with you "
I made my way to my seat without responding. "Ok great", she said carrying on.
Miss James was extra Fiesty today. She would usually pick on me all the time, to answer questions but today her tongue was lace with venom and shooting direct fire at me.
I listened in on her heartbeat hoping I could figure out what was wrong. However it was calm and rthymic. I wasn't getting nothing from her.
"Miss McCleary what is the answer?"
I sat staring at her, frozen. Not wanting to give her the wrong answer and have everybody laugh at me.
Within 5 seconds she opened her mouth again and I knew me getting laught at would be inevitable. "What do you know, Miss McCleary?", she said.
"Those who want to attempt to answer this question, raise your hands please", she continued.
That was it, I wasn't having this. If mom had agreed to her being my first kill we wouldn't be in this situation today.
But I'll be sure to correct her error today.
"Miss James", I said as I got up from my seat. She turned around to face me. Before she spoke, I ran towards her in full vampire speed. Within 0.5 seconds I had her in my grasp.
Her mouth opened wide, as did my other classmates. I laughed my happiest laugh as I bit into her neck.
Her warm blood flowed steadily into my mouth and I enjoyed every gulp I made. I felt her struggle within my grasp but there was no escaping my vampire strength.
Her blood was sweet. More desirable than the animal blood. It tasted like ice-cream and candy. After a minute or two she was lifeless in my arms.
I let go of her carcass and watch it fall to the ground. It was then I noticed the panic happening around me.
Some of my classmates had ran into the corridors while a few of them stood frozen by fear.
Leona looked at me with tears flowing upon her cheek. As she remain seated at her desk unable to move.
It was then I realized what I had done. I had just murdered my teacher infront a room full of students and traumatized my bestfriend. But I didn't regret it one bit. It was satisfying.
I appoarched her slow and steady as I called out to her, "Leona, Leona" but she remained frozen unable to move.
The closer I got to her she sank into the chair. The air around us was saturated with her fear. The look of disgust and disbelief all over her face. Her heart beating against her chest so fast, I thought for sure her pacemaker would eventually short circuited.
I ran towards her full vampire speed, not with the intention of hurting her but to calm her down. I just knew I had to hold her and she wouldn't allow me to.
I embraced her in a hug and that's when I felt it. A stake went through my back, into my heart and through my chest. I felt my breath leaving my body. I turn around and saw my principal grinning evily.
"I always knew something wasn't right about you or your family", he said as I felt to the ground.
I shifted into my ghost form and I cried out loudly as the death sunk in. I closed my eyes and prepared myself, knowing I had exposed not only my vampire side but my ghost side as well.
"Bye mother, I didn't mean to. I love you", I whispered into my head.
"What's wrong baby?", I heard my mother called back in my mind.
