Yashmin's POV
I was exited knowing what we encountered was over and that we are now home. I ran out of the car leaving mom and dad alone.I left without telling Leona but atleast she is safe with grandma.......well I would hope. Grandma Jones and Dad doesn't seem to loose their sanity where a opportunity for blood presents it self but I sure as hell do, over and over again.
I thought as I made my way upstairs and into my room.It was empty and without the presence of my friend. Instantly i noticed a red strain on my carpet, that seemed as if somebody worked hard to conceal its presence. My heart started to race.
I went back downstairs. "Grandma Jones", I said.
Within a blink of an eye she was infront of me, whoa I uttered as I started to wonder if I would be able to do that."Have you seen Leona?", I asked her.
"No", she responded
"But Dad send you back just to keep an eye on her so how do you not know where she is?", I asked her again.
"Yes she was here but now she is gone", said my grandma.
A wave of confusion hit. "Did she go home grandma?"
"That's it right there hun, she definitely went home. I only hope she likes it there", responded my grandma as she licked her lips.
"Why is there a red stain on my carpet?", I asked her.
"Am not sure you would like the answer to that question", she said picking something put of her teeth.
"Why not?"
My heart started to race faster. "Grandma what happened?"
"Well Leona was bleeding."
"Bleeding? Why would Leona would be bleed?"
"Granddaughter, again I don't think you would like the answer to this question."
My mouth hang opened as i fell to my knees. That is it, I thought to myself. How dare grandma eat my friend and then play mind games. I am so telling mom and dad.
"Mom, Dad, grandma ate Leona."
"What?", they responded in union.
"She said Leona went home and she really hopes she like it there and she was bleeding. Doesn't that sounds strange. "
"Mom cut it out", said my dad. "Just tell her where Loena is."
My grandma burst into laughter, "Am sorry", she said. "I couldn't help it. I heard her racing heart and smelled her fear. But blame her, your child thinks very poorly of vampires and of her grandma. Vampires are not cannibals; we drink of blood and eat not of human flesh. If you had grown her in our ways, this would not be so."
So wait she didn't eat Leona, that's a relief but more importantly did she just say we were vampires.
"Am I a vampire too grandma Jones."
"Yes indeed you are."
"Well", interrupted my mother.
Both my dad and grandma turn to look at her as she continued. "You are 50% vampire and 50% ghost. I don't know what that means and what that will create but it's important to recognize one thing; you are Yashim McCleary Jones, your parent's whole hearts."
I always seemed to feel better after my mom gave a speech. It's like she knew exactly what to say. "So what about the red spot on my floor and why was Leona bleeding?"
"Leona spilled ketchup, I tried my best to clean it but it wouldn't come out completely."
I felt as if a weight had lifted off my shoulders, I was so angry that she went home without saying bye, although it was what we all did previously.
..............................................................................
My dad and mom on the other hand had a tremendous task before them. The chief's ruling was for the youngest of each tribe along with their family members to be relocated in the human world.
Dad claimed to be in the house retail business but I don't know if I should believe him. And mom was in entirety a stay at home mom.
Besides being a ghost and a shadame. Her human skills of socialization was rather absent.
At Leona's house
Leona's POV"Why are you home so early, I thought you was gonna stay longer with Yashmin."
"Yashmin had an a family trip mom, so I had her grandmother drop me here."
"Is that so trip where and with whom. You never mentioned Leona's grandmother before. Is she a nice lady"
"Mom if I say its a family trip. It must be with her family. And yes grandma Jones is a really nice lady."
"So anything strange or unexpected happened while you were there?"
"Mom I think it's very important, healthy even that you get your own friends. Why are you always so interested in Yashmin and I friendship. Mom it's giving creepy just a little."
"Well someone has an attitude, excuse me for caring. And the next time you speak to me in this manner, I'll punish you."
I know I shouldn't speak to my mother this way but my mother is obsessed with my bestfriend and her family. She had used me in the past to give several details about Yashmin.
I remember this one time I caught her literally peeking through a window at drop off. When Yashmin's Dad caught her, she claim, she had forgotten to kiss me good bye. I was so embarrassed.
Yashshauna's POV
I sat in the living room feeling all type of unsettled about what I said at the council. How was I going to help three families relocate and to where. Sometimes it pays to keep my mouth shut. If I did, we wouldn't be in this mess."Are you ok babe", asked my husband as he sat beside me.
"Yes I am, I am so wondering about how, I am going to help the families relocate here."
"That's nothing to worry about. Tomorrow we will go out and you choose three houses within our neighborhood. I'll take care of the rest."
"But all the houses here are occupied"
"Babe everyone as a price. You would be surprised how easy it is, to get people to abandon their house."
"Aaaaahhhhhhhhh", echoed a scream.
What is it now, I thought as I ran to Yashmin's side. She was on bend knees, covering both of her. On her face was a pained expression. I didn't know what to do or even, what caused her discomfort.
