On our way there I tried to get my mother to open up about what she meant by loosing me, but she would not.

It's like my lack of ability to turn back into my human form had scrambled her brain.

To be honest I have never been more afraid than I am in this moment. As I knew anything that could reduce my mother to this state is something to be fear indeed.

Then there was school and Leona.

Flashback begins
"Everyone will split into teams of two and complete the experiment", commanded the teacher.

Yashmin watched as everybody paired up together leaving just her, or so she thought.

"Miss", she said raising her hands.

Suddenly a voice came from behind her, "Want to pair up with me?"

"Sure", she answered eagerly before looking to see who was behind her. When she did, Yashmin thought she was the most innocently looking person. She had ever laid eyes on.

That was the begin of a very strong  three years friendship.

Yashmin and Leona adored each other
Flashback ends

Mom had to get herself together, I wasn't having this. She must figure this out.

"Mom I can't be stuck like this", I said.

"I know baby, you will be ok. Grandpa will make it better", she responded.

"For both of us....he always makes it better", she continued. But I think the last sentence was meant to bring her comfort, rather than me.

....................Mom's family home......................

"Dad", my mom said as granddad embraced her in a hug.

"Hey my lil munchkin."

"Hey Granddad."

"How are you?"

"Well granddad, it has been a dark day", I said.

"Was that a shadow joke", asked  my aunt Ci Ci as she appoarched. "Oh Yash!"

I embraced my aunt into a hug. It's been a while since I have seen either of them but there was something special about the way my aunt craddled me.

Soon I was forced into the kitchen for a meal. Ever since I can remember,  this is what they did whenever they wanted to talk about something I wasn't suppose to hear about.

So I listened in, secretly. I saw them whisper something to each other and then all three of them made their way into the back yard.

Then into another yard. In this specific yard, they entered the tent rather that the house. I stayed as close as I could without being seen.

"Sarafena", said my granddad.

"How may I help you?", I heard a voice responded.

"Today I come to you with a problem, hoping for insight."

"Speak freely council chief", she said.

I know I should be more concerned about turning back human but I couldn't help but wonder what council he was chief of. And did that made me special.

"One of our 15 year olds, won't revert back to human form."

"I bet, it's the McMelons' young boy. The moment I delivered him. I knew something would go wrong."

"Actually I just went by the McMelons. He is actually ok, they are waiting on you to do the ceremony."

"Ok well let's get your granddaughter and the others, so I can get this over with", said the voice.

"That's what am telling you she is unable to revert back to human."

"What Chief curse your tongue. Are you serious?", she asked.

"Yes I am", he said.

"A McCleary? No, no, no. This as never been heard of. Are you sure?", she said.

"Yes I am, my daughter herself bares witness.", said grandad.

"Well am afraid an ancestor of the shadow has not accepted her. Or has choose most recent to not accept her", she said.

"But who?", asked my mom.

"If I had to guess, I would say the ones whose Chain lays upon her chest."

"Wait mom!", shouted my mom.

"Yashsena!", shouted my granddad. "It makes no sense. Why would my wife refuse her granddaughter."

"I don't know but I suggest you go get your granddaughter and let us ask Yashsena as to why, she refuses the seed of her seed."

Upon hearing that I attempted to run back to where they have previously left me but before I could, my mother appeared before me in full shadow form but this time she was floating.

"What did I tell you Yash about sticking your nose where it doesn't belong?"

"That I should not but I wasn't here long. I didn't hear nothing, I promised."

"Don't lie Yash, the moment you got here. I sensed your presence. One another thing you must learn, you can't hide from me. No shadowling can't hide from their mother."

The moment she said that I realized all the sneaking around I been doing and is planning to do, was pointless. She knew all along. She just didn't stop me.

"Am sorry mom."

"It's ok", she said as stood grounded by my side. She stretched out her hands and I took it.

We entered inside the tent. The moment I entered, I could smell the burnt tobacco scent that lingered in the air.

"So this is the young McCleary?", she asked rising from her seat.

"Yes she is", said my mother.

Finally I could put a face to the voice who spoke earlier. Her attire complemented her environment very well. It was dusty and raggedy just like this whole tent.

"Come now we must hurry up, before her entire maternal line refuses her. Then we won't be able to help her", said the old lady

"What", asked my Aunt Ci Ci. "They wouldn't."

Word from author
Huge Question on my mind. Why would a grandmother denie her own grandchild.

Do any of you know? Cause I don't. Comment and tell me what you think is happening.  See you next write.
