Shangri La Pt. 1

101: Verity

( Note: This chapter is hella long, but because I don't wanna keep dragging this flashback, it's all left here in this chapter! Spoiler, it's gonna be pretty serious and a bit dark, but I do hope you enjoy! )

After managing to escape the suffocating dining hall, Yu felt like she could catch a breath, only to be halted once more in the day. 

"You still think that guy's important like you say?" a hoarse voice spoke. 

"Arg– You're not allowed to say anything like that, unless you want your title as Knight to be stripped, do you?" Yu growled as she turned back to see her brother resting against the wall with his arms crossed. 

"I don't get why you're taking all of this so seriously–" 

"Because this is my position, not yours! I've worked hard to get this position, and I'm not gonna let you or anyone try to take that away from me, especially now. You don't know that man that's inside that room with the King, and he's a lot worse than you think." 

"Heh– You think I wouldn't know that after what I said earlier? He's lying to everyone's face, so what makes you think I should respect him like you do?" 

"Arg– You're still immature." Yu muttered.

But right before Katsuki to say another word, the doors leading to the dining hall cracked open and one of the maids exited with the little white haired girl; Eri, next to her. 

"Ah– What's wrong? Why is the Lord's daughter with you?" 

"The Little Lady is tired and Lord Chisaki requested us to take her to her room to retire for the night." the maid answered. 

After hearing such an answer, Yu looked down at the little girl who's eyes beaded with fear but also curiosity. 

'She's... wanting to rest? Wasn't she taking a nap before she arrived from what I was told? And then I heard from one of the other maids that this little girl was taking a nap before the dinner ever took place? Something's not right here.' Yu thought, as things just turned suspicious after hearing reports about the new guests in just a day. 

So, Yu knelt down and gently gave a sweet smile to the little girl.

"That's alright, I will take her to her room and assist her to bed. Is that alright with you?" Yu asked softly as she held her hand out to the little girl. 

Eri didn't even utter a word let alone a single noise as she looked at the blonde's hand. 

"It's alright, Little Lady, I'm not here to hurt you, hm?" Yu hummed as she remained there waiting for the girl to take her hand. 

And take her hand she did, causing Yu to stand back up and then carefully tighten her grip just slightly on the little girl's hand. 

"Report to me anything about Lord Chisaki, and you stay out of trouble." Yu commanded as she shifted her attention between the maid and her own brother to then walk with the little girl until they reached the girl's room.

"Shall we get you washed up? It seems you've had a very long day, and a bath will make you feel better, hm?" Yu suggested sweetly to the little girl. Eri didn't say anything as she could only look at the ground and away from the blonde.
