Chapter #57
Shanna’s POV
“I’m glad that you’re ok and not seriously injured,” I whispered to Louri since the kids and Scarlett have fallen back asleep. “Me too, I hate worrying my family and I hate that Scarlett had to see it happen,” Louri replies. “She saw it happen?” I ask. “Yes, we were FaceTiming right before it happened, luckily I heard it coming and told the kids to leave but unfortunately Scarlett saw the impact and aftermath.” She says. “Wow that must’ve really been scary,” I say, making her nod. “Yeah but she’s strong and luckily I was able to talk to her after the attack and she knew I was ok. I wouldn’t know what to do if my sat phone would’ve gotten disconnected,” she says. Ma walks over to the side of the bed and brushes her hand on Louri’s hair and grabs her hand to give it a squeeze. “I’m glad you’re home safe,” Ma says. “Thanks Ma,” Louri says with a smile. We talked for a little while more before Nurse Maya came in to do her evening check up and to let us know that visiting hours are over. “We got a hotel room across the street,” I tell Louri. “Of course you did,” she says, chuckling a little. “Hey it was the closest thing without having to stay on hospital property, you know we want to be close,” I tell her. “I know, thank you for coming and being there for the girls and Devon,” she says. “Always,” I reply, smiling and giving her hand a squeeze. We wish eachother goodnight and Bri, Ma and I leave the room to head to the hotel.

Louri’s POV
⚠️⚠️
After they left I attempted to fall asleep. I close my eyes and let my body relax as much as possible between the kids and Scarlett being on the bed. I drift off into sleep, hoping to get some decent rest. I’m back at base camp talking with Scarlett and the kids on the phone. Wait a second I already lived through this. I hear a sound and immediately tell the kids to leave and I tell Scarlett I love her. I jolt awake yelling No! And breathing erratically, waking the kids and Scarlett. The kids start crying and Scarlett quickly maneuvers to place her hands gently on my face. “Louri, baby it’s ok. You’re safe, you’re here with the kids and I.” She says but I can’t seem to get my breathing under control. Devon pushes the nurse button on the bed. “Mama, Mama,” Louisa cries. “Devon sweetie can you get the girls off the bed,” Scarlett says. He helps his sisters off the bed and onto the couch. Nurse Louisa comes in a few seconds later. “What happened?” She asks. “I think she had a nightmare from the attack and I can’t get through to her,” Scarlett says worryingly. “It’s ok, Louri, Louri it’s ok, you’re home, you’re safe,” Nurse Louisa says, placing her hands on my arms. I gasp for air and look around frantically. “What happened?” I ask. “You had a nightmare and a panic attack,” Nurse Louisa says. “Oh God, are the kids ok?” I ask. “Yes baby they’re fine, they’re on the couch,” Scarlett tells me, making me look over to the couch. “I’m so sorry my babies,” I try to get up but Scarlett and Nurse Louisa stop me gently. “Please no rash movements,” Nurse Louisa says. “I just want to hold my kids,” I say. “You will just let me take your vitals really quick,” she says. I let her check my vitals and she helps the kids back into bed. “Mama,” they say together. “I know, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” I say, putting my arms around them and giving them a hug and kiss on their heads. “I didn’t mean to scare you,” I say. “It’s ok mama, you’re safe with us,” Devon says, making me teary eyed. “Thank you Little Marine,” I say. “Do you want some medicine to help you sleep?” Nurse Louisa asks. “No, I’ll be fine,” I tell her, making her nod. “If anything happens, just push the button,” she says and heads out. “Try to fall back asleep, I’ll stay up until you fall asleep,” Scarlett says. “I don’t want to do that to you,” I say. “Louri, it’s fine I promise, you’d do the same for me,” she says. “Ok I’ll try,” I say and cuddle up with the kids and attempt to fall back asleep, knowing I’m safe with my wife and kids.
