Louri’s POV
“HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!” Devon yells jumping on me waking both Scarlett and I. “Thank you buddy. Why are you up at four in the morning?” Scarlett says. “So that I said it first.” He smiles as he gets snuggled between Scarlett and I. “Well thank you little Marine but I think..” I start to say but he’s asleep snuggled into Scarlett’s side. “Well that was cute but I’m going to go back to sleep.” Scarlett says. “I do have some reports that need to be done so I am going to do them now so I can spend the day with you and the kids.” I tell her and she nods and lays back down her arm wrapped around Devon as she goes back to sleep. I walk out of our room and smell coffee. I walk down stairs and see Ma reading on her tablet with a cup of coffee in her hand. “Good morning and Happy Mother’s day Ma.” I tell her as I go to pour myself a cup of coffee. “Good morning and Happy Mother’s day to you too.” She says with a smile looking up from her tablet. “What are you doing up so early?” I ask. “Your son.” She says before taking a sip of coffee. “Oh he woke you too huh?” I say opening my laptop that I left in the kitchen last night. “Yes. He said that since I was a mom before you and Scarlett that he had to say happy mother’s day to me first.” She says. “He fell asleep after jumping into bed with Scarlett and I. And since I normally wake up early I figured I might as well get my reports done so I can spend the day with my family.” I tell her. “This is why you became a Lieutenant Colonel before forty with a family.” Ma says. “I’m confused.” I tell her. “You don’t let work or homelife take most of your life. I mean you are doing your reports at four in the morning so you can spend the  day with your family. You always get your work done and have time for your family.” She says. “Well that’s not the only reason I became Lieutenant Colonel there were other things that happened.” I say. “I will take this  ccat back to Boston if you remind me about that again.” She says pointing to the sleeping cat in my lap. “That’s my cat you can’t take Gizmo.” I say. “Watch me.” She says picking him up and running off. “Ma I’m a lot faster than you give me my cat!”

Scarlett’s POV
I am woken up by yelling. I can't make out what  is being said so I get up to make sure everything is ok. I try not to burst out laughing when I see Louri chasing her mother who is surprisingly fast. “Give him back!” Louri says. “No he’s mine now!” Lisa replies poor Gizmo. “Ma give me the cat.” Louri says. “No, get your own.” Lisa replies clearly enjoying messing with Louri. “Children!” I yell trying not to laugh and they both stop. I walk over to Lisa. “Please give me Gizmo.” I say and she does. “Thank you.” Louri says. “I didn’t say I was giving him to you.” I say and her jaw drops. “Come on Gizmo lets go to bed.” I say petting his head, making him purr in content. “She took my cat.” Louri says. “Louri dear, I don't need to know that.” Lisa says. “Ma I meant Gizmo.” Louri says and Lisa bursts out laughing. “Mommy where did you go?” Devon asks tiredly when I enter the room. “Oh I just had to save this little guy from your crazy Mama and Grandma. How about you take care of him for me.” I tell him and he nods and I hand him Gizmo and Gizmo curls into Devon. It's quite cute. I get back in bed and Devon lays his head on my shoulder and falls back asleep.

I wake up to a figure standing at the foot of the bed and just as I am about to scream for Louri I hear her voice. “Cat thief.” She says. “Holy fuck Louri you scared me. How long have you been there?” I say. “Like five minutes. Hand over the cat please.” She  says. “Too late Devon is snuggling with him.” I say gesturing to our son who is sprawled out taking up most of the bed with the cat snuggled in the crook of his arm. “Ugh now I’ll never get him.” Louri whines. “You can snuggle with me.” I say. “Only if you go full koala.” She says pointing at me. “I always do.” I say in a duh tone. “Good point. Scooch over beautiful.” She says walking around to the side of the bed. “So why did you stand at the foot of the bed like that? I thought someone broke in.” I ask her. “Oh shit I didn’t think you would think that. I thought you would assume it was me.” She says rubbing my back. “Why would you think I would assume it was you?” I ask. “Because you know I’m weird.” She says making me laugh quietly so I don’t wake Devon. “You are weird and it’s one of the things I love about you.” I tell her. “I’m glad you love my weirdness. I'm sorry for scaring you.” She says. “Loud.” Devon groans. “Sorry buddy, can I have my cat?” Louri says. “No Mommy handed him to me. She said to take care of him for her plus you have Mommy to snuggle with.” He says. “Yeah that means I have the best snuggle buddy.” Louri says, making me smile. “Glad to know I’m a better snuggle buddy than the cat.” I joke. “No, you both lose.” Devon says. “Oh and why’s that?” I ask. “Because I’m the best snuggle buddy.” He says with  a giant smile. “Yes you are.”  I nod. “And what am I chopped liver?” Louri asks and Devon just nods before rolling over to go back to sleep. “That is so my child.” Louri chuckles. “Babe thesun should be rising soon. Do you want to make some coffee and watch the  sunrise together?” I ask. “I would love that. I’ll carry you.” She says getting out of bed and holding her arms out for me and I jump into them. “Whoa I thought I was going to fall there for a second.” I say since my center of gravity is changing due to being pregnant. “I’d never let you fall.” Louri tells me as I rest my head on her shoulder. We go down stairs and Louri sets me down on one of the bar stools and  makes a fresh pot of coffee. “So did you get your work done after the Gizmo situation?” I ask. “I did. Then I went upstairs and tried to mess with you but ended up scaring you which I feel bad about.” She says. “Don’t feel bad. I was scared at first then you said cat thief and I wanted to laugh.” I tell her. “You are though. You stole my cat.”  She says as we walk to the back patio. “What  are  you doing?”  She asks. “I’m going to sit down.” I say plainly. “Not there. Your seat is right here.” She says patting her lap making me chuckle at her being clingy so I go and sit in her lap my back pressed against her chest and she pulls a blanket. I didn't see her grab over us and we sit in the quiet and watched the sunrise together.
