Chapter 42

Scarlett’s POV
Lisa has apologized to Louri and I but I still want her to apologize to the kids too because she scared them as well. After we talked for a bit Devon came downstairs, rubbing sleep out of his eyes. “How did you sleep Devon?” I ask as he walks over to me and cuddles into my side on the couch. “Good, still a little sad though. What’s Grandma doing here?” He asks. “She has come to apologize for what she said and did to us,” I tell him as I brush the hair out of his face and rub his back. He looks over at Lisa and sits up a bit more. “Devon, sweetie, I’m sorry for the yelling that you had to witness and saying those mean things about your mommy. I hope that you can forgive me,” Lisa says. He sits there for a couple seconds processing everything and eventually nods his head. “I forgive you grandma,” he says, making her smile widely. “Is it ok if I have a hug?” She asks him and he walks over to her and hugs her. She holds him tightly, crying a little. “Thank you for forgiving me sweetie,” she says to him and gives him a kiss on the head. He walks back over to me and cuddles back into my side. Louri comes downstairs carrying the girls in her arms and sits down on the couch with them. Louisa looks over to Lisa and immediately starts getting upset and hides her face in Louri’s neck, which breaks my heart seeing her so upset. “It’s ok honey, grandma Lisa just wanted to say sorry,” Louri says as she soothes Louisa. Lisa carefully walks over and kneels down on the floor in front of them, “Louisa, sweetie, I am so sorry for scaring you the way that I did. I never want you to be scared of me. I hope that you can forgive me for scaring you,” she says softly so she doesn’t upset Louisa too much. Louisa looks over to Lisa but still holds onto Louri’s shirt and nods slowly. “Otay” she says, making Lisa smile big. “Thank you,” Lisa says and smiles and looks over to Maya. “I want to say sorry to you too Maya,” she says and Maya reaches out and Lisa instantly takes her into her arms and hugs her. I’m happy that we are all ok now. “I think I’ll get started on dinner,” I say. “Oh please let me help,” Lisa offers, making me nod. “Maya do you want to come watch or do you want to stay here with Mama and your sister and brother?” I ask. “I watch,” she says, so Lisa carries her into the kitchen with us.

Louri’s POV
I sit on the couch with Louisa in my lap, with her back against my chest and she has me wrap my arms around her. Maybe I should talk to Scarlett and see if we should take her to see a children’s therapist. I don’t mind her being attached to me but I just want to make sure she’s ok and how to help her cope with certain things. Devon decided to do some coloring in his new color book that he got from Chris. After some time the front door opens and Melanie walks in. “Hi Grandma Mel!” Devon greets her as she walks into the living room. “Hi sweetie, how are you?” She asks him. “Good, I’m coloring in my new coloring book,” he says and shows her the book. “Oh that’s very nice,” she tells him. “Hi Louri, hi Louisa” she greets us. “Where’s Scarlett and Maya?” She asks. “In the kitchen with my Ma,” I tell her, making her freeze. “I should go apologize to her,” she tells me. “Hear her out first,” I tell her and watch as she walks into the kitchen.

Melanie’s POV
I walk into the kitchen seeing Lisa and Scarlett cooking. “Grandma,” Maya says, making Lisa stop and she turns and sees me. She wipes her hands on the apron and walks over to me slowly. “Mel,” she starts. “I am so so sorry for everything I said and for triggering Scarlett, causing her to have a panic attack. I was out of line. I hope that you can forgive me.” She says and starts fiddling with her hands. I let go of a breath I didn’t know I was holding. “Can you forgive me for slapping you?” I ask. She chuckles a little and nods. We hug each other tightly. “For what it’s worth, it was a good slap,” she says, making me laugh more. I’m glad we were able to make up and hopefully put this in the past. I sit with Maya while they continue to cook.

Scarlett’s POV
I’m happy we finally put all of this behind us. We finish up cooking and Louri asks if there’s enough for Chris to come over as well to which I tell her that there is. Shortly thereafter, Chris arrives and gives us all a big hug. He is happy that we all made up. We sit down at the table and eat. After dinner Louri asks me if we could talk in her office. We make sure that Chris keeps the kids occupied. We walk into her office and she closes the door. “What’s going on?” I ask her. She sighs, “I was thinking earlier while sitting on the couch with Louisa, if maybe we should look into taking her to a children’s therapist. I just worry about her, I want to make sure she’s ok and that maybe if we can find ways to help her cope with certain things. I don’t mind her being clingy to me but what if we’re missing something?” She asks. “I didn’t even think of that. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to look into it. And we can both be there with her during the session so she doesn’t get overwhelmed or scared,” I say thinking out loud. “I agree, so you’re not mad?” She asks. “Why would I be mad?” I ask. “Well for suggesting we take our daughter to see a therapist at a young age,” she says. “Baby, it’s not a bad suggestion, it just shows that you’re a little concerned and want what’s best for our little girl,” I tell her, calming her down. “That’s all I want,” she says, as she wraps her arms around me and hugs me. “Then we will do a little research and find her the best therapist,” I tell her. “Thank you,” she says and kisses me. “You don’t have to thank me,” I say in return, giving her a kiss back.
