Chapter 66
Mixed POV⚠️⚠️
After a few minutes Louri decides to pick me up and carry us up to our room. She lays me down gently onto our bed. “I’m just going to tell your Mom and Karsten to watch the kids and I will be right back ok?” She asks, making me nod timidly. “I will be quick,” she says and gives me a kiss on my forehead and goes downstairs quickly. “Is everything alright?” Melanie asks. “I think so, I think she might be experiencing some postpartum depression so I was hoping you can keep an eye on the kids?” I ask. “Of course, we will take care of them, go be with your wife,” she says and I smile in thanks and quickly head back upstairs to our room. Once I enter our room and gently close the door and get into bed with Scarlett. She clings to me and I hold her close. “It’s ok baby I got you,” I tell her. “Please don’t leave me,” she says, while crying. “I would never imagine leaving you Scarlett, I love you so much with my heart and soul.” I tell her and I rub her back. “What did I do to deserve you?” She asks, making me smile and giving her a kiss on the head. “You loved me unconditionally, nursed me to health, looked past all my scars, held me when I had nightmares and loved me when I couldn’t love myself,” I tell her softly. She wipes her face in my shirt and looks up at me. “Do you think the kids hate me?” She asks, making my heart break. “Absolutely not, they love and adore you so much. You are the best mommy to them, always make them laugh, you take care of them when they’re sick, you pretty much raised them on your own when I was deployed, you are a strong, amazing mother, wife and woman.” I tell her. Hoping I can convey everything to her and I’ll do it every second of every day if I have to. She smiles a little and lays her head on my chest. “Thank you,” she says. “No need to thank me,” I tell her. “I will always be here for you no matter what.” I tell her. “I will help you fight your inner thoughts if you ever feel like they’re overwhelming. And I will hold you as long as you need me to. Because remember what we said, in sickness and in health till death do us part”, I show her my wedding ring making her smile. “You are the best Louri Dollese Evans-Johansson,” she says. “So are you Scarlett Ingrid Johansson-Evans.” I say. “I think I want to take a nap,” she says. “Ok, get some rest, I will be right here,” I tell her, rubbing her back slowly. She nuzzles close to me and wraps her legs with mine and I bring over covers up close to us and she falls asleep. After a few minutes I fall asleep as well. A couple hours later we wake up and she kisses me. “Thank you for holding me,” she says. “Of course,” I say, smiling. “Can you get the kids? I want to be with them.” She asks. “Yeah I’ll go get them,” I tell her and get up slowly from the bed and head downstairs. “Hey guys mommy wants to cuddle in bed,” I tell them. “Ok!” They say and quickly head upstairs making me laugh. “Thank you for watching the kids,” I say to Melanie and Karsten. “Of course, thank you for looking out for my baby,” Melanie says. “Always,” I say and she hands me Thomas and I carry him upstairs. I walk into our room and see the kids snuggled with Scarlett. She looks up smiling and I walk over to the bed and hand Thomas to her. “I’m so happy you are all here with me,” she says. “Are you ok Mommy?” Devon asks. “I will be,” Scarlett says, smiling, placing a kiss on Devon’s head. I get into bed and we decide to watch We Bought a Zoo. It’s one of our favorites and definitely a comfort movie. I mutter under my breath when I see Matt Damon kissing Scarlett, making her giggle and Devon and the girls say yuck. “Exactly, yuck,” I say as well, making Scarlett burst out laughing. Music to my ears, I am so happy she is laughing again. “It was just for the movie,” Scarlett says. “Uh huh, seems like he enjoyed it too much,”
I say, teasing her a bit. She looks over to me and smiles and kisses me. “Yucky” the kids say. We laugh and put our arms around the kids and continue the movie and decide to have a movie day the rest of the day.
