Loomian Legacy Veils of Shadow

Versus the Soul Heart! Soul Burst Unleashed! Pt 3

Things weren't looking good. Thane and his friends were cornered, and everyone knew it. Why had the Soul Heart given Vanta a boost? Thane didn't know, and now, they were at the mercy of the mad scientist and his super-charged Loomian. The Loomians stood protectively before their various human companions, but no one dared make the first move.

Ferrix tried again to reason. "Vanta, you don't know what you're messing with." Vanta, apparently had had enough of Ferrix and the kids. "Stratusoar, get rid of them, please." The all-new powerful Loomian stepped forward, a blue light glowing from its core as it opened its mouth. Everyone took a step back when suddenly, Thane snapped his head towards the water as Via told him something.

Before Thane could question Via further, an explosion of water that reached up to the cave's ceiling and drenched everyone below. A dark form cast a menacing shadow against the cavern walls, illuminated by the Soul Heart. The newcomer Loomian landed in front of Thane and company, its clawed feet splitting the rock below. Dakuda raised its giant claws and sliced through the beam of energy from Stratusoar's attack.

"What!" Vanta cried out in anger as Dakuda huffed in rage. "What is that!?" Lucas screamed as he shakily raised his watch and opened the Loomipedia app, only to be met with a no data screen, which he stared at in shock for a few seconds. Ferrix backed away, pulling the kids with him. The Loomians remained on guard but shaken. "It's the protector of the Soul Heart. If the legends are to be believed." He added quickly. Lucas let out a small laugh, "Oh, so it's on our side, right?" Another roar from Drakuda made him jump, but Vanta didn't share the same fear.

"I don't care what it is or whose side it's on!" He declared. "It won't stop me from taking the Soul Heart! Nothing will!" He turned to his Stratusoar, "Attack Stratusoar!" Stratusoar roared in compliance and took off into the sky. Drakuda roared and looked up, trying to track the impossibly fast Loomian as it flew in circles around the cave. In the air, Stratusoar had locked onto Drakuda and let the missiles from its new wings fly.

Drakuda tried to block the barrage with its claws, but it was overwhelmed almost immediately. Everyone dove for cover as the strike continued, showering Drakuda in explosions and smoke. By this point, Starla had calmed down and the eyes had disappeared, but everyone had forgotten about that.

When the smoke cleared, Drakuda was sprawled out on the ground, breathing slowly and injured from the barrage of attacks it had taken from the powerful Stratusoar. As the aforementioned Loomian landed beside Vanta and Daniel, Vanta laughed maniacally. "See!?" He exclaimed. "The Soul Heart is on my side! That's why I'm the only one in the world with this power!" He declared as he held up his LoomiWatch.

Before he could continue rambling, a small piece of the Soul Heart flew past him at lightning speed, cutting him off as he leaped back in shock. Thane, who was just getting back up with the help of Jake immediately collapsed again as he was struck in the face with a flying piece of the Soul Heart with so much force that he flew back. His dark-tinted sunglasses came flying off his face and landed on the ground. One lens was completely shattered and the other one was badly cracked. "Thane!" His friends cried out while his team rushed forward to his side. Meanwhile, Vanta and Daniel stared at the Soul Heart, trying to figure out what had just happened.

Meanwhile, it was like Thane's world had just exploded. Brilliant white light had invaded his eyes allowing nothing else through. Via's calming voice was gone and replaced by a ringing in his ears. His numb hand slowly made its way up to his ear to where the earbud should be. It was gone. His lungs and throat labored through a painful cough and Thane made the mistake of leaning back and accidentally slamming his head into the hard cave floor, causing him to groan in pain. Within his skull, he didn't feel cold anymore. He didn't feel the cold metal of the POLUT. Corp prosthetics he had come to rely on. To his right, he was vaguely aware that Jake and Embit had reached him first, followed by the rest of his friends and Loomians, but their voices were so far away.
