Chapter 50: The Breakup

#Gun and I continued practicing together everyday for the next two weeks. Then filming started. And another two weeks had passed and the show started airing. With each episode I kept on getting more known, more popular, and more fans. I had told my family about SMTM and they would watch every episode. They would video chat me before every filming so they could cheer me on and wished me luck. More weeks passed and most of the rappers had been eliminated. The only ones left were me, #Gun, Mino, Jooheon and Ravi. The competition kept getting tougher. Then two more weeks passed, Jooheon and Ravi had been eliminated. Now the only ones left were me, #Gun, and Mino. In the end Mino ended up winning. #Gun was second place and I was third. I guess experience really has a lot to do with this. And Mino was truly a good rapper. #Gun was also really good though. It must have been really hard for them to compete against eachother since they are cousins. And even though I got third place I was still getting a lot of praise for it. Many were saying that I was ready to debut. And YG was actually starting to plan my debut. It was official, I was gonna debut in High Ground. It was just a matter of a few more months and then I will be an idol. I was still not sure what was gonna happen to #Gun though. He had told me he had gotten some offers but he told me he would wait a bit longer to decide.

iKON had already debuted and WINNER was soon to have a comeback. And Donghyuk and I thought that it has already been enough time for us to be able to break up so we went to go see YG.

"You guys want to break up?!" YG seemed surprised by our request. "Yes sir." I said. "But why? I thought you guys were doing good together." "We're just good friends sir. Nothing more." Donghyuk said. "But you two don't think that your friendship can turn into something more?" "We tried but we just don't feel that way about eachother." I said. "Well I guess I can't really make you two keep dating when both of you don't want to. And a deal is a deal. I had said you guys could break up after some months of trying. It's just so sad though. You two really did make a great couple." "Thank you sir for understanding." I said and bowed. "But how should we tell the news of your break up? What reason should I give?" YG asked. "We'll take care of it." Donghyuk said. And with that said we left YG's office.

"So what's your plan?" I asked Donghyuk. "We'll announce it on our Instagram." "Okay. But what will we say?" "We can just say that we decided to be just friends because we felt more comfortable that way." "I don't think people will settle with that explanation. But you go ahead and post whatever you want. And I'll post what I want to say." "But we have to agree on something." "Don't worry, it won't contradict your explanation. But my explanation will be more detailed." "Okay. But let's both post at the same time. So what time should we do it?" "How about tonight at 8pm?" "That's fine. So I'll do it my way and you do it your way."

That night I told #Gun to meet me at my dorm at 7. I will first let him know the explanation that I was gonna write for my breakup with Donghyuk. I wanted to make sure he was okay with it since it would involve him.

"So what is it you wanted to talk to me about?" #Gun asked. "Well it's finally time." "Time for what?" #Gun asked confused. "What we have been waiting for. Me and Donghyuk will finally break up. We already talked to YG about it and he said it was okay." "That's great news!" He smiled. "Well tonight at 8 is when me and Donghyuk will announce our breakup on Instagram. And along with letting people know that we are breaking up, we will also let them know why. So Donghyuk will give his explanation and I will give mine. And that's what I wanted to talk to you about. I already know what explanation I want to give but first I wanted to make sure that you would be okay with it." "And why wouldn't I be okay with it?" "Because it involves telling people about us." "Us? You plan on telling people about us?" "Yeah. I don't want to hide our love anymore. I want us to be able to go out on dates like any other normal couples. I want to be free to show my love to you. And I want everyone to know how I feel about you." "Well if your sure about this and you really want this then go ahead. If your happy then I'm happy." "Okay. I'll do it. Thanks for understanding babe." I gave him a kiss on the cheek and got on my Instagram. For the pic I posted an unreleased selca that me, #Gun, and Donghyuk had taken at the baseball game. And as for the description I wrote: "Hello everyone. I am posting here tonight to let you all know that Donghyuk and I have broken up earlier today. The reason being is because we've never been more than just friends. We just started dating because of the dating rumor about us. Donghyuk had a crush on me and I also sorta had a crush on him too so that's why when the rumors came out we decided on going along with it. We were gonna give us a try and see if our friendship could grow into something more. But it never did. So that is why we decided to stop kidding ourselves and end this so called relationship we had. Donghyuk is a nice guy and we're still good friends but I'm in love with someone else and I can't hide it anymore. I want you all to know who my heart belongs to. And that someone is Song Gunhee. He is my friend and my lover. He has always been there for me. He is the rock that supports me and keeps me strong. Without him I wouldn't be where I am today. And from now on we would like to be able to date him freely and be able to show our love to you all. And I am sorry if I have disappointed any of you. But I hope you can all continue supporting me in my decisions. Thank you all and good night." And that is what I posted. I felt relieved to finally let the truth out. I felt like I was fooling everyone before. And I felt like I was living a lie. But now I'm finally free. Free to live my life how I want and free to love who I want. I felt like a bird that has just been let out of its cage.

Within seconds my post started receiving many comments. I started reading through them and it was mostly all positive reactions. Some of the comments were:

"I'll always be your fan no matter what!"
"Good luck unnie! I can't wait for your debut!"
"You make a cute couple with #Gun! I hope everything works out for you two!"
"I'm so glad that you'll finally be with the one you love! Fighting unnie!"

"I ship you two! Abby and Gunhee fighting! Saranghae!"
"I loved you two in SMTM! I hope you two debut soon!"
"You two are meant for eachother! Fighting!"
"I'll be cheering for you two! Saranghae!"

My fans were the best! They were so nice! I went to go check Donghyuk's Instagram. He had posted a pic of both of us in the practice room. And in the description he wrote: "To all my fans, I have an announcement to make. As of today Abby and I are no longer a couple. We realized that we just weren't meant for eachother and so we decided to just be friends. We ended on good terms. It was a mutual decision so I ask of you all to please be understanding." Luckily there didn't seem to be any hate comments on his post. Some of the comments he had gotten were:
"Oppa is single now! Yay! Now I'll have a chance with you!"
"It's always sad when a relationship ends but as long as you two are happy then I am too."

His fans are so silly. They remind me of how I was before. But maybe someday they'll get to meet their oppa just like I did.

Now the only reaction there was left to see was YG's reaction...
