A Step To The Truth

Peter, Artemis, M'gann, and Superboy were on their way to their ship that was parked in front of the Xavier school.

Jean, Beast and Charles watched the group leave nearby, but Peter stood by and faced the three of them to bid them farewell. "Well that was definitely fun." Peter said to them.

Jean let out a little laugh, "I saw. Sorry I couldn't make it." she said.

"It was good to work with you all, Mr. Parker." Charles said. he gave his hand for Peter to shake, "Lets hope we meet again under much better circumstances."

Peter shook his hand, "Agreed."

"We won't stop looking for him. You know, right Parker?" Beast asked.

Peter nodded, "Yeah. I know we will." He then stepped back and suddenly M'gann came up to them.

"Ready to go, Pete?" She asked.

Peter nodded at her and said, "Yeah." he then sighed, "Time to go back to my own problems."

"Like what?" Jean asked.

Peter and M'gann looked at each other, wondering if they should tell them. Wouldn't hurt. M'gann said in his mind.

He sighed again, "Okay." he told her. They then turned towards the mutants, "My friend, Harry, is dying. He has this rare disease and he's got about a couple months left to live. But he found this sort of symbiote that was capable of healing him thanks to the company he now owns, Oscorp. He was gonna start human trials to test if it worked then use it on himself, but it was stolen. We're trying to find it to help Harry, but so far we got nothing."

"Well then it's kind of obvious what happened to it." Beast said.

Peter cocked his head at him, "And what's that?"

"Harry had it stolen."

The duo's eyes widened. Peter couldn't believe it. He refused to believe it. It wouldn't make sense. "W-why?" M'gann asked. 

"If he indeed had a symbiote, he would never able to get to human trials. Not even animal trials. Symbiotes are too dangerous. If Harry wanted to even try to test it, the board would never allow it."

"You don't know Oscorp like I do."

"Don't know Oscorp? I know business. More than anyone. And I DO know Oscorp, my friend, and not even Oscorp would allow something like that."

Peter shook his head, "No. No. Harry wouldn't stoop that low."

"Peter. Respectfully..." Jean began, "He is an Osborn. And people do things out of fear and desperation. bad. Terrible things. Tell me this Peter..." She took a step closer to him, "Are you ignoring the chance of him doing this because he's your friend... or because you really truly believe he wouldn't do something like this."

Peter contemplated it all. As much as Harry wasn't like his father... there were times when he saw hints of him in Harry's eyes.

If Harry DID really do this... they would need to have a serious conversation. Not Peter and Harry.
