The room was shrouded in darkness, the only light faintly outlining Haarjavti's silhouette at his desk. He sat still, staring blankly out the window, unaware of the Bialyan soldiers standing guard outside. Overhead, a fish-eye camera swiveled, scanning the office before sliding out of sight.

"Haarjavti's alone," Robin's voice came through, almost a whisper as he, Kid Flash, Superboy and I silently dropped down from a ceiling tile. The four of them landed with barely a sound. Robin and I moved toward Haarjavti's desk, while Kid Flash and Superboy positioned themselves at the doors, covering both exits.

Hovering above us in camouflage mode, Miss Martian kept watch, her presence almost imperceptible. Robin moved cautiously toward Haarjavti. The president turned toward him with slow, mechanical movements, his expression blank, his voice distant, and still clearly under Psimon's control.

"Where's my daughter?" he asked, his voice robotic, his eyes dull. He groaned, raising a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose. "Where's Psimon?"

"Forget him," I said, keeping my tone short. "Let's get you out of here."

But my senses flared—too late.

The doors burst open, and Bialyan soldiers armed with alien tech stormed the room. There were too many of them to count. A figure in a Bialyan military uniform followed behind them, unarmed but clearly in charge.

"Well, well. American heroes, here to assassinate the President," the general sneered. Miss Martian dropped silently behind him and one of the soldiers, unnoticed.

"Such a shame we arrived too late to stop them," the general added with a smirk.

"They've got Apokoliptan weapons," Superboy's voice came through telepathically, his tone tense.

"They're planning to kill Haarjavti and pin it on us. That gives Queen Bee total control over Qurac," Robin realized. "Form up around the President!"

Miss Martian suddenly turned her attention to something outside the room. "I've found Psimon!" she called out.

"Wait!" Robin tried to stop her, but she was already moving.

"I'll get her," Superboy said, ready to charge after her.

"No!" Robin shouted quickly. "The mission is Haarjavti."

I stepped forward, glancing at the soldiers aiming their weapons at us. "Maybe we can talk about this, boys?" I asked, hoping for even a split second of negotiation. Their weapons hummed to life in response. I sighed. "Why can't we ever talk?"

The fight erupted before anyone could blink. Kid Flash zipped around the room, disarming soldiers in blurs of red and yellow. Robin expertly used his tools to disable the more heavily armed ones, while Superboy bulldozed through the line with pure force. I swung from one corner of the room to the other, webbing up soldiers as fast as they could get their bearings, taking down any stragglers still standing.

In a matter of moments, all the Bialyan soldiers lay unconscious, scattered across the room. Kid Flash and Superboy dropped the last two, and I webbed another to the ground just for good measure. Robin reholstered his tools, and we turned to check on Haarjavti.

Standing beside him was a beautiful young woman, her face marked by a symbol under her left eye.

"Thank you for saving my father," she said to us, her voice calm and composed. "We'll take care of him now."

Robin didn't seem convinced, but there wasn't time to argue. "M'gann, we're coming," Superboy broadcasted as the four of us bolted out of the office, sprinting down the hallways toward the theater where she had gone.
