Harry returned the hug, though his embrace lacked the usual warmth. "Missed you guys. It's good to be back."
Peter followed, his smile forced. "Good to have you back, Harry. How are you feeling?"
Harry nodded, but his eyes betrayed the truth. "Better, I guess. It's just... weird being back."
As they walked through the halls together, Flash Thompson appeared, his usual bravado in full swing. "Well, well, well, look who's back from the dead! Harry Osborn. How you doing, man?"
Harry smiled weakly, nodding. "I'm okay, Flash. Just trying to get back into the swing of things."
Flash clapped him on the back, a rare moment of sincerity in his voice. "If you need anything, just let me know. It's good to have you back, Osborn."
As Flash walked off, Liz Allan approached, her eyes lighting up when she saw Harry. She leaned in, wrapping her arms around him in a gentle hug and pressing a kiss to his cheek. "We were all so worried about you, Harry. I'm so glad you're back."
Harry nodded again, trying to muster a genuine smile. "Thanks, Liz. I appreciate it."
The rest of the school day dragged on, with Harry struggling to keep up with the pace. His mind seemed elsewhere, and every now and then, Peter would catch him glancing at him with a look of deep contemplation.
Finally, lunch arrived, and the three of them found a spot in the cafeteria. MJ noticed how quiet Harry had become, so she tried to lighten the mood. "So, Harry, you missed the great cafeteria food. Did you miss the mystery meat?"
Harry chuckled half-heartedly, but it was clear his thoughts were elsewhere. Peter, sensing the tension, leaned back in his chair, trying to keep his own emotions in check.
"So, what have you guys been up to while I was out?" Harry asked, his voice tinged with bitterness.
"Well, you know," MJ said, trying to sound upbeat, "same old, same old. School, hanging out, dealing with Flash's ego. Oh, and Peter's been busy with... you know, his usual stuff."
Harry nodded, but his expression darkened. "Yeah... Spider-Man."
Peter stiffened slightly, the mention of Spider-Man striking a nerve. "Yeah, he's been pretty busy too."
Harry leaned forward, his voice low and filled with frustration. "You know, I heard about what happened at that warehouse yesterday. Some big fight with a guy called Mister Negative?"
Peter nodded, trying to keep his voice neutral. "Yeah, it was... intense. There's a lot going on right now."
Harry's gaze lingered on Peter, his expression unreadable. "Must be nice... being able to handle everything."
Peter frowned slightly, sensing where this was going. "What do you mean by that?"
Harry's voice grew colder, his eyes narrowing. "I mean, Spider-Man seems to have all the answers, doesn't he? Always showing up at the right time, always taking matters into his own hands. Even when it's not his place."
Peter felt a surge of anger rise within him. He tried to keep his voice steady, but it came out sharper than he intended. "Harry, Spider-Man does what he can to help. It's not about taking matters into his own hands; it's about doing what's right, ya know?"
MJ gave him a wide-eyed stare, wondering why on Earth Peter just said that. Harry's face twisted with anger. "Doing what's right? You mean like taking the symbiote from me when I needed it most? Do you have any idea what I went through? What I'm still going through?"
Peter's patience was wearing thin, his tone growing colder. "I know more than you think, Harry. That symbiote wasn't going to save you; it was going to destroy you. Spider-Man did what he had to do."
