"You ruined our family Teresa! You ruin everything you touch!"
"I didn't mean to! I-I swear! Please, Petey, I-""
Peter's eyes shot open from his nightmare. The light peered from his window where it hit his eyes. He put his hand up in front of it then began massaging his eyes.
Yesterday was really something
With that 'training simulation', he could still barely sleep.
And now he had school now as well.
He leaned up then threw the blankets off himself. He continued to massage the sleep out of his eyes. He didn't even have enough time to switch out of his clothes yet.
Once his eyes adjusted, he looked down at himself and saw... he was wearing the symbiote???
"What the-??" He stood up straight and looked around his body. He swore he took it off last nigt.
It must've came on with the nightmares as a defensive mechanism.
He closed his eyes and tried reverting it into some normal clothes. Funny. Never had to TRY to make it do this.
The suit transformed into casual clothes and he suddenly got a phone call. Like instinct, he webbed the phone from his bedside table to his hand and answered, "Hello?"
"Peter?" It was MJ.
"MJ. Hey. To what do I owe the pleasure?" He webbed his backpack to himself and threw it over his shoulder.
"Nothing much. Just called to hear how the simulation went last night, but denied it soo..."
"I did?" He entered his call history and found he denied MJ's call.
"Yeah. You could've just said you're not in the mood, ya know."
"I don't remember you calling. Sorry." He found the the time she called. It was a bit after he went to the warehouse and fought Mister Negative. If he recalled correctly, he barely remembered a thing after that fight. All he remembered was him heading home, changing then falling asleep. The training simulation took a lot out of him along with that fight with Mister Negative.
"Sorry. I don't remember much from yesterday after it. Let alone last night."
"Oh. Well, my bad. What happened anyway? I heard about Spider-Man being spotted at a warehouse. Caused a lot of ruckus."
"I'm sure JJ's gonna be happy about that. I'll tell you when I get to school. Bye."
He hung up the phone then looked out the window. He had A LOT going on now.
All this along with that fact that... Harry was coming back to school today.
Midtown High; October 17th, 16:38 AM
Peter arrived at school, the events of yesterday weighing heavily on his mind. As he approached the entrance, he noticed MJ waiting beside her bike, her red hair catching the morning light. She spotted him and waved, a bright smile on her face. Peter tried to return the gesture, but his smile felt forced, strained.
"Hey, Peter!" MJ greeted him as she jogged over. Her smile faded slightly as she took in his appearance. "You look exhausted. Did you sleep at all last night?"
Peter shrugged, his shoulders heavy with fatigue. "Not much. I had a rough night. The simulation we did yesterday... it really got to me."
MJ's expression turned serious, her concern evident. She reached out and lightly touched his arm. "What happened?"
Peter hesitated, his thoughts drifting back to the moment in the simulation when Artemis died right in front of him. The memory was still fresh, raw, and it stirred up emotions he wasn't ready to confront. "It was intense, MJ. I know it was just a simulation, but it felt so real. Artemis... she died, and I couldn't do anything to stop it."
MJ's eyes widened in shock. "Oh my God, Peter. I'm so sorry. That must've been horrible."
Peter nodded, his voice quiet. "It brought back memories of... Gwen. I thought I'd moved past it, but being in that simulation, seeing it happen again... it just messed me up."
MJ's grip on his arm tightened, her eyes filled with empathy. "Well... I'm here for you, tiger. Alright?"
Peter nodded in return, "...Thanks."
She put her arm through his as they began walking around, "And what happened at that warehouse?"
"Some of those guys from a couple days ago were robbing a museum. I stopped them and interrogated him."
"I'm assuming he talked?"
"Yeah... he did." He left out the part of how he exactly interrogated him. "He told me where they gathered before and I went there. Met their leader. Mister Negative."
"Mister Negative? Is he gonna be a problem?"
"Well, I punched him up through the floor while he were underground and he has these some sorta energy beams the symbiote doesn't like. It hates it if anything. Oh, and by the way." Peter took out his phone and held out the photo of the map to her, "Does this look like anything to you?"
She took the phone in her hand and looked closer, "Well... there's exhibitions happening and 4 of these circled places. Some others are upcoming red carpet areas... Maybe he's attacking places where the rich and famous are."
"But for what?"
"I dunno... But some doesn't make sense though."
"Like what?"
She held out the map to him, "Over here." She zoomed in on a spot of the map, "Tomorrow, there's an auction going on for some old and antique stuff. Everyone who's everyone is gonna be there. Yet it's not circled." He looked at her confusingly to which she sighed, "Another place. Museum exhibit. Not circled. Election. Not circled. Big parties from celebrities. NOT circled. He's not attacking places where the rich and famous are. It's something else. "
Peter and MJ then spotted a limousine then pulling up to the front of the school. They both knew who it was. MJ handed him back his phone and they began rushing to the car. They stopped at the entrance of the school and watched as the door was opened. And out stepped the one and only... Harry Osborn.
While he still looked sick, he looked much better than before and walked with a cane.
Harry looked up and saw his friends to which the widest smile he's had in a while appeared on his face. "HARRY!" MJ screamed as she ran up then gave him a hug.
Peter rushed behind her then gave him a hug as well, "Good to have you back, Har."
"Good to be back, guys..."
They all ended their group hug, "You missed A LOT."
