It was day one of training and I already was not enjoying it. Training at Mount Sinai was a three-day program that consisted of watching fourteen hour long videos, relearning how to treat patients properly, and practicing such techniques on dummies. That explained why it was highly recommended for us to stay at the hospital instead of going home. It was like boot camp if you went into army. You woke up at the crack of dawn, spend hours doing station work, and went to sleep late at night. Only to be awaken at the crack of dawn once again.
I was never a big fan of it since I came to this job in the first place. But it was required along with the five hundred questioned assessment we had to do next week. The good thing about the assessment was that I could stay home for that entire week and still get paid. I haven't told Xena yet because I wanted to surprise her and take her to Times Square to see the Hamilton play. Her obsession with plants was similar to my obsession with Hamilton. Hopefully, she liked it as much as I did.
But before I could have that whole week off, I had to do training first. I shut the door behind me, thinking about locking it but forgot that I wasn't home right now. I was in the on-call room, the reason for it was self-explanatory. It was where I was living at for the next three days. I was going from an Alaskan King to a Twin Extra Long. A major downgrade, especially with how tall I was. But I was dealing with it for the time being.
I walked to the bed then went for my bag, pulling my phone out. I saw that had missed a call from my sweetheart. I called Xena back then laid on the bed. A sigh of relief came from me. My back felt amazing now that I was lying down. The call connected and I put my phone on speaker.
"Hi baby!" She exclaimed, making me smile. This training was going to be easy if I heard her voice every day and night.
"Hi princess. What are you doing?" I asked since I ended up hearing music and other voices in the background.
"I'm at the garden store with Davon." She answered.
"Is everything alright? Did I not get something for you?" I started questioning. I really wasn't into plants so I wasn't all the way sure what to get. I was just going off what Google told me.
Xena chuckled then responded, "Everything is fine. You ended up getting the wrong soil for me."
"Oh, I'm sorry." I apologized. "What did you need?"
"Potting soil. You got me regular garden soil, which I'm still going to use for the raised beds, but for the pots I need potting soil." She explained. I hummed somewhat understanding what she was talking about. It made sense a little.
She chuckled again. "I don't even have to see you to know that you're confused." She mentioned.
I nodded, despite her not seeing me. "Yes, ma'am. But what I'm getting from it is that potting soil are mainly for plants being in planted in pots and garden soil for garden."
"In a much simpler way, yes. But there's other aspects as well that included the drainage and balance of the soil. That's not interesting so I'm not going to get into it."
"Don't do that." I told her. "If it's interesting to you then we can talk about it. I don't mind listening baby."
"I know. I just don't want to waste your time while you're training. You need to be focused."
