I was back. Yeah, you heard me. I was back at the shelter because I had unfinished business with Miss Donna. If she thought she was going to run me away like that then she had another thing coming. I wasn't letting up that easy. I had a mission after all to help my people, so that's what I was going to do. I refused to be the woman that had nothing going on with herself. I refused to prove Franklin Mills right about me.
I wasn't lazy.
I had a purpose in life.
I wasn't a troublemaker.
I could do the same thing my siblings do.
I can and I will do as such.
I took a deep breath, preparing myself for Donna to show up. She should be coming at any moment. I timed it from yesterday and figured it'll be the same today. Hopefully. It didn't matter because I was more than ready to set her ass straight. She deserved it for how she talked to me yesterday. It reminded me of Franklin just in a womanly way. She had Franklin's disrespectful tone. His arrogant and condescending attitude that I despised the utmost. That's why I felt the need to come back and redeem myself.
I never allowed Franklin to speak to me like that. I damn sure wasn't allowing some random chick do the same. That was dead. And I was going to do it all by myself. That's what I thought.
I squinted my eyes when I saw Kasey's truck pull up in front of me. The biggest frown fell on my face once I confirmed that it was indeed him. I couldn't catch a break with this man. I get that he wanted to be helpful but I didn't need him around. I could handle it on my own.
"Hey, baby." He greeted while walking to me. I was not happy to see him. He knew how to show up at the worst times. I allowed him to kiss me on the cheek, my attitude still showed.
"What are you doing here?" I asked. I tried not to expressed how displeased I was that he was here right now.
But I really was.
"I came to support." He grinned. I sized him up and down, stopping myself from twisting my face up.
"I also can't have you out here alone. How come you didn't tell Davon you were leaving?" He questioned, shoving his hands on his pockets.
"Because I didn't want Davon here and I really don't want you here either. You can go back home." I told him. I leaned off the door then started pushing him back towards the truck. He was about to ruin everything with his presence and I wasn't having it.
"Well, I can't do that." He told me. He pressed his lips when his back hit the truck. He wanted to say something for sure but he didn't. Good because I didn't want to hear whatever it may have been.
I needed him quiet.
"You can and you will. Get in." I opened the passenger door despite him needing to be in the drivers seat. It was my sign for him to leave like I wanted.
"Wrong door. Also no." He shot me down while shaking his head.
"I can't leave you out here by yourself, Xena." He told me again. I rolled my eyes. He was doing too much for my liking.
