I came to my greenhouse with Davon so he could grab these wooden carts of mine. I ended up growing way more mint and cilantro than intended, so I had five crates filled with jars of them. The sight that I seen soon as we pulled up made my eyes widened. A random woman was touching my stuff having me scared out of my mind. Davon parked the truck and I slowly got myself out while I tried figuring out how I wanted to approach this woman.
"Uhh, excuse me." I spoke up, making the lady face me. I forced a smile to that was silently hiding the confusion and anger I was experiencing with her touching my things.
"Oh, hello!" She exclaimed. "Do you know who owns this place?" She asked pointing at the greenhouse.
"It's mine." I answered. I looked over my shoulder seeing Davon had approached. I definitely needed him here in case things went left. I prayed that it didn't.
"Alrighty then, if you don't mind, I'm interested in buying a couple of your jars. I would love to make a classic mojito with fresh mint leaves." She mentioned, holding up one of the jars.
"I'm sorry. I don't sell these." I informed her.
"Is this not a store?"
"No-"
"Yes!" Davon's voice overpowered mine. A puzzled expressed rested on the woman's face. I felt the same as I quietly questioned Davon's response. He knew this wasn't a store and chose to give our wrong information.
"Is this a store?" The woman asked, looking from me to Davon for a response.
"Not yet." Davon answered instead of me. "She hasn't opened yet but we're working on it. Are you looking to buy?"
"Well, yes, I am actually. I'd like two jars of both. Are you only selling mint and cilantro?" The lady questioned. Davon went to me for a response. I thought he would answer since he was doing that already.
I responded, "Umm, at the moment, yes. I'm still working on it as he said."
"That'll just make me come back. Anywho, how much are the four jars?" She asked smile digging inside her purse.
"Umm, twenty dollars each." I gave her a random price I came up right then and there. I was unsure if the price was good or not for what I was selling but it would have to deal for now. She said she'll be back and I prayed that was the truth.
"Good. I've been waiting to get rid of this fifty my grandson came me." She said. She pulled out a fifty and it damn near made my heart stop. I was really about get paid for what I grew just for the hell of it. This was crazy.
She counted the bills and made sure she had enough then handed it to me. I counted it as well while she grabbed four jars, two of each. I bad to be dreaming or something because there was no way this was happening. And to think I was about to miss out on this opportunity because of my words. Davon was a lifesaver.
"What's your name by the way?" The lady asked and brought me back.
"Oh, it's Xena." I answered. I held my hand out and she shook it.
