Around 7, I got a text from Danny. My first session went really well.

Valentina: That's good. I'm glad you actually followed through with it.

Danny: I am glad as well. I just hope this helps not only myself but for us.

Valentina: Me too

"Who are you texting?"

I looked at Micah and shook my head. "I..."

"Are you texting Danny?"

"Y-yes."

"Val, why?"

"Yes, I agree with Natalia. Why are you talking to him, Valentina? He is beyond toxic and not only mentally but emotionally broke you. I watched for months as you drank your sorrows away to the point where I was concerned for your health."

"Do you have any idea how happy the kids were to see him?"

"It doesn't matter. Allowing Danny to come back into your life would be a mistake. I don't want to see him hurt you again."

"Micah, I love my kids more than anything in this world, and it breaks my heart to see him engaging with the kids and having to witness the sad looks on the kids' faces after Danny leaves just... I don't know. It breaks my heart. I want nothing more for them to be happy, but they need their father, especially Maverick."

My sister grabbed her glass of wine and sighed. "Look, I know you want Danny to see them, but I have to agree with Micah. You can't forget how he hurt you."

"I have not forgotten and that is something that I will never forgive him for."

"You need to stick with your gut, Val. Think about if this will affect you in a good or bad way. I mean, what if he makes another mistake?"

"I told him that we would be completely over."

"How many times did he promise that he would change, Val? Countless, but he didn' keep his promise. What makes you think that he will change this time?"

"You should've seen how happy they were to see Danny. I know that it is risking my mental state, but... I just don't know anymore. I love him, but it scares me as well."

Natalia sighed. "Valentina, we just don't want to see you get hurt again."

"Well, he had his first therapy session today."

"Therapy?"

"I told him that he needs professional help."

"But how do you know that it will help?"

"I don't know if it will but there is only one way to find out."

After my sister and Micah left, I took my medication and questioned if I was making a good decision or not.

Should I truly listen to Natalia and Micah, completely cutting Danny out of my life and living a new life without him, or what could happen if I choose to give him another chance? Danny has made several broken promises, and I had no idea if he could truly change.
