Danny

The next day, Valentina had allowed me to spend time with her and the kids for the afternoon and I had finally gotten the answer that I have been waiting for. "You're saying yes?"

Valentina grabbed her glass of wine and nodded. "I feel very stupid for saying this, but yes. This is your VERY last chance, Danny. What you do now is your decision because if you mess up again, the only people you will see are your kids. I won't want anything to do with you, considering this is your fourth and last chance."

"I know it will take a long time for you to trust me, but I will go to therapy as long as you want me to."

"Don't go just because of me. Do it for yourself as well."

"I am doing it for both of us. Because Pete's words have been lingering in my head for months."

"And what was that?"

"He refused for me to break another woman's heart."

"I am taking a huge emotional risk, Danny but I need to do this for my kids."

"Our kids."

"Well, yes."

"Even if you want to go to couple's therapy, I will. Especially if you say yes."

She scowled. "To what?"

I smirked. "It's my little secret, Valentina. You'll have to wait and see."

"Okay."

"Are you agreeing to stay at my company now? Especially since I have made the decision to triple your salary."

"So that's the bait for me to accept your offer?"

"Not at all. I didn't appreciate you enough and you truly deserve to be recognized for your hard work."

"We will see, but I definitely missed being around Micah and Katy."

"You and Katy made up?"

"We did."

"Well, I know she's dating one of my co-workers."

"Who?"

"Anthony Sindoni."

"I don't know who that is."

"We hired him a few months ago. He's a good worker."

"I thought you fired Katy."

"Well, she begged for her job back and I figured that I would give her a

second chance."

"Well, I'm happy for her. Tom sure didn't deserve either one of us."

"He sure doesn't. I deserve you."

She laughed. "We will see about that."

After I left her house to pack my things up, I saw Tina standing in the kitchen with a scowl on her face. "You're moving out?"

"What are you doing here?"

"Take these."

She threw a folder on the counter, and I opened it, scowling at the photos neatly stacked with dates written on each one. "What is this?"

"Looks like she did some side business."

Each photo was of Valentina. "Okay? And?"

"You're okay with this?"

"It was after our divorce."

"She's taking you away from me."

"If you weren't such a bitch, things would have worked but you messed that one up."

Tina scowled. "You'll regret this."

"I highly doubt that."

Tina could try and make me feel bad, but I knew for a fact that it wouldn't work. Valentina is the only girl who I want to be with for the rest of my life, especially once she realizes I bought a ring.
