Jayden

Ever since Maverick signed with the Stars five years ago, I've had feelings for him. Not as just a friend, but more than that. After several years of friendship, I reached a point where I didn't want to hide how I felt about him, but I always had a fear of telling him because I didn't want to destroy our friendship. "Jay, you okay?"

"Yeah. I'm okay."

"You sure? You seem... spaced out."

"I'm fine, I promise. When's your first game?"

"Next month. I did have a surprise for Mya, but I am choosing to give it to you."

Jayden smiled. "What is it?"

"Just a second."

Maverick went upstairs and handed me a jersey. "Here."

"What is this?"

"Well, it was supposed to be for her collection of my jerseys, but with how things have been lately, I really don't think that she deserves it."

"What is it?"

He handed me a black and green jersey. "This is a game-worn jersey of mine."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Oh my god Mav, thank you!"

"No problem. Glad you like it."

"Yes, I LOVE it! In that case, I will make sure to be at your games with Kayla."

"Don't worry about that. I can get some season tickets for you guys."

"Oh my god, really?"

"Yes."

"Oh my god! How much do I owe you?"

"Don't worry about it."

"Thank you! That means so much to me, Mav."

"I know you were really never into hockey but..."

"It's never too late! Especially now that I have this."

I smiled and hugged him. "You're the best, Jay."

"Likewise, Mav."

"I couldn't have asked for a better friend than you."

If only he really knew how I felt. "I agree."

Maverick

"Do you have anything planned for the night?"

"No, why?"

"The boys and I were thinking about going out to get some food. Would you want to come?"

"Is Mya coming?"

"Not tonight, she's hanging out with the girls."

"And me coming with you would be a good idea, why exactly?"

"We're just friends, Jay. There's nothing wrong with hanging out with us."

"I don't really think you'd be hanging out with the boys if I came with you."

"We have catching up to do, Jay."

She smiled. "Okay. Where are you going?"

"Probably Applebee's or something like that, just getting some bar food."

"Sounds good, I'll go home and get changed."

"Come here around 7."

"Sounds good, Mav. See you later."

After Jayden left, I sent Mya a text. Going out with the boys. Also invited Jay to come as well. Just wanted to let you know.

She could accuse me of cheating all she wants, but at the end of the day, I knew that I was a loyal man and I had one goal in mind: to do my best to make a woman happy but I knew that Mya didn't notice those qualities.
