Valentina

Danny remained silent for a few moments before nodding. "Yes."

"Do you promise?"

"Yes."

"Good."

"And if you give me one last shot, you can go through my phone as many times as you would like."

"I wouldn't violate your privacy."

"Val, I want your trust. So, I would be more than happy for you to do that.

As a matter of a fact, I want you to."

"Alright."

*** The next day: After we arrived at Juan's for breakfast, I could sense that he was pissed at Danny. "Nice to see you."

"You as well, Juan."

"Val, can I have a word with him? Alone?"

"Yes."

Juan and Danny went outside, shutting the screen door behind them.

"Why are you doing this?"

"Doing what?"

"Are you kidding me? You cheated on my sister with her best friend!"

"It was wrong."

"Damn right it was."

"I fucked up and I can't say sorry enough."

"Do you really think that I will approve of this?"

"We aren't dating. I told Valentina to take her time to think about it."

"How do I know you won't go back to your old ways? I refuse to have her get heartbroken again."

"I promise you, Juan. I am staying with her for good."

"I sure as hell hope so because this is absolutely your last chance with her, Danny."

"I'm not going to mess up this time. She's the mother of my kid, and I want to be around him. Although Callie's not mine, I will treat her as my own."

"That's all I can hope for."

"Thank you."

After they finished their conversation, they came back inside and sat at the table.

*** Two weeks later:

"How does it feel to work here again?"

I looked at Micah and shrugged. "Weird, I guess."

"But at least you can see me every day."

"True. Have you heard from Katy?"

"I saw a photo on her Facebook of her and Tom."

"Oh, really?"

"I guess she went to California to see him."

"Well, that's good. I won't have to worry about that anymore. I just hope she stays away from Danny."

"I'm sorry for what happened. Danny told me about the doctor's appointment. I just didn't want to say anything."

"It's alright. It was upsetting, but I'm glad that I know now."

"Do you think you'll try for another?"

"I think three is enough for now."

Micah laughed. "Probably."

"Are you still seeing Mitchell?"

"I'm dating Jake."

"The guy who you went to college with?"

"Yeah, he came from Arizona for a few days."

"Oh, nice. How long have you been dating?"

"Two months."

"Well, I am happy for you."

"What's crazy is that he was talking about getting engaged!"

"Really?"

"Yeah! Do you think that you'll get back together with Danny?"

"I do."

"Does he know?"

"He's staying with us now, so yes."

"I'm sure Callie and Maverick missed him."

"They were so excited when he moved in."

"Well, he better treat you right this time."

"I hope so too. But it seems that whatever has happened, we always end up getting back together so everything truly happens for a reason."

"I want you to be happy, Val. That's all I care about."

"Likewise."

"Well, it's getting late. I told Danny I would go home and make dinner for him."

"It's almost 6. Why isn't he leaving?"

"I guess he had a huge meeting with some CEOs."

"Alright, well call me later!"

"I will."

After I picked the kids up from Juan's, I went home and started to make steak and baked potatoes. All I could hope for was Danny to become a better person. I knew how reluctant I felt to give him another chance, but I felt it was for the best for my children.

By the time Danny got home, it was almost 8. "Sorry I'm late."

"No, you're okay. I ended up feeding the kids early so I could put them to bed."

Nodding, he went to the bedroom and took a shower. I put plates on the table and two glasses of wine and took a seat, waiting for him to finish up. "I hope you like it."

Danny came back to the kitchen with a pair of gray sweatpants and a t-shirt. "I'm sure it will be delicious, babe. Thank you."

He took a small bite and smirked. "Just as good as I thought it would be."

"I wanted to make a nice dinner for you. How was your meeting?"

"It was long, but good."

"That's good."

"Are you finished?"

"I am, but I got it."

Danny shook his head and grabbed my plate. "I'll take care of it tonight. Go to the bedroom and undress yourself."

"What?"

Danny smirked. "You heard me."

"Yes, sir."

I stood up and kissed him before going to the bedroom, taking off my t-shirt and sweatpants. What he had planned, I had no clue. But I sure as hell missed having intimate moments with him.
