Maverick

I had to of called Mya at least five times but did not get a single response. That was until 6:30 when I was woken up to the sound of the door opening and Mya laughing.

"Mya?"

She came into my bedroom and smiled. "Hi! How was last night?"

"Umm good, you didn't return any of my calls."

"Oh, sorry. I was with Callie all night and chose to stay with her."

I looked at her bare finger and scowled. "What are you looking at?"

"Where's your ring?"

"Oh, sorry! Shoot, I must have left it at Callie's."

"Why would you take your ring off?"

"I can't remember."

"You got that inebriated?"

She shrugged. "I wanted to."

"Get some sleep, I'm going to take a shower."

"Oh, can I come?"

As I opened the bathroom door, I shook my head. "Get some sleep, Mya."

"Why?"

"You've been drinking, you need to get some sleep."

"But I missed you babe!"

"Yeah? Well, we can talk about that later."

Without allowing her to argue, I shut the bathroom door and turned the shower on. What her issue was, I had no idea, but I could sense that something was going on.

Mya

I laid in his bed beyond irritated. I grabbed my phone and sent Callie a text. What the hell is wrong with Mav?

Callie: What do you mean?

Mya: He acts angry with me just because I got back late.

Callie: He has trust issues.

Mya: He should trust me by now.

Callie: That's just how my brother is. You need to gain his trust back.

Mya: I'll try...

After Maverick got out of the shower, he got dressed without making any eye contact with me. "Hey, what's wrong with you?"

"I think you know what's wrong."

"You're angry just because I was drinking with your sister?"

"Just forget it. It doesn't matter."

"Hey..." I stood up and placed my hand on his shoulder. "Please talk to me."

Shaking his head, he shook my hand off his shoulder and grabbed a bag. "I'm going to the rink."

"Babe..."

"I'll see you later."

Maverick

"Why did you lie to her?"

I looked at Dale and took another swig of my beer. "I needed a break."

"Do you not want to be with her?"

"I do, but... I just feel like she's hiding something from me."

"Like what?"

"I don't know. She said she was drinking with my sister, but how should I know that she was not lying?"

"Because Callie told you herself."

"I don't know man, it's just... seeing her with another dude got in my head."

"Then why did you propose?"

"Because Tyler told me to, remember?"

"Yeah, maybe she'll change."

"We'll see."

"Go home, dude. She's more important than we are."

"Alright, if you insist."

As soon as I got in my car, I called Callie. "Hey, what's up?"

"Did she really stay with you last night?"

"Mav, why do you keep asking me that?"

"I don't know."

"I wouldn't lie to you. Ever. You should know that by now."

"Does she love me?"

"Of course, she does! Oh, and can you stop by my house quick? She forgot her ring here."

"Yeah, I'll be there shortly."

Callie could tell I was pissed the moment she saw me. "Mav, stop worrying. If I knew she did something, I would tell you."

"I know, I'm sorry."

"Don't be. Trust is hard to gain back."

"It sure is."

"Just trust me, Mav. Okay?"

"I'll try."

She smiled and hugged me. "See you later, Mav."
