Valentina

It was 5:30 by the time I got home, and the house was thankfully dead silent. I quietly tiptoed to my bedroom and changed to get a few hours of sleep.

*** A few hours later: "Val, wake up."

I opened my eyes and saw Micah staring at me. "What time is it?"

"Almost 9:30. I have to get to work, but I'll see you tonight?"

"I have dinner."

"With who?"

"I'll tell you later."

She smirked. "You better! The kids are all fed and dressed."

"Thanks."

"Of course."

I got dressed and went to the living room where Maverick and Callie were sitting on the floor, playing with their toys. "Mommy, can we get ice cream?"

I looked at Callie and nodded. "We will later after we eat our lunch, okay?"

Callie nodded. "Okay!"

By lunchtime, I felt my phone vibrate and I saw a number that I didn't recognize. "Umm hello?"

"Is this Valentina?"

"Yes, who is this?"

"Jackson."

"How did you get my number?"

"Don't worry about that."

"Can I help you with something?"

"Just calling to make sure that you are still meeting me tonight."

"7, correct?"

"Yes, ma'am."

"Alright, Jackson. See you later."

I hung up and put my phone on the coffee table. I had no idea what he had in store for me tonight, but maybe accepting his offer would be the best thing to do to financially keep my family stable.

By 3:30, I took the kids to get ice cream with my sister and told her what I had planned. "Who is this guy?"

"I have no idea. His name is Jackson I guess, and he came to the club last night for... you know, and he apparently has a job offer for me. He said it will double what I make right now, so I am giving him an opportunity to tell me what it is."

"I just want you to make good choices, Valentina."

"I know, Natalia. Thank you."

"Do you need me to watch the kids?"

"You're able to do that for me?"

"What time will you be done?"

"9:30 at the latest."

"Alright, I can do that."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. I like spending time with them."

"I can't thank you enough, Natalia."

"I would do anything for you, Val. Whatever you need, I've got you covered."

"Thank you so much."

"Of course. Frank is making dinner at 5, so I'll take them now."

"If you need any spare clothes or anything like that, you have a key."

She nodded. "Have fun, Val. Give me the details later, okay?"

I chuckled. "Yes, for sure."

I grabbed my purse and drove home and went through my closet until I found a short red dress and a matching pair of heels. I knew how expensive the place was, but I wasn't sure what kind of dress code they have.
