"VOIGHT IS OUT."

When Melisa heard these words come from Boden's mouth, her stomach dropped. They had caught this corrupt officer, they had evidence, and he was being let go? She knew the world was unfair sometimes, but she never thought he would be released. Melisa wasn't completely surprised, though, because she knew the system sometimes was corrupt.

"Voight's got a condo in Myrtle Beach," Antonio informed Boden. Melisa and Casey were there as well. "And there's a good shot he threatens to sue the department for wrongful prosecution, settles for a chunk of change, and then goes to play golf year-round. That's according to my buddy who used to work for Voight."

Antonio went and stood in front of Melisa and Casey. He could tell they were uneasy. "He's dirty, but he ain't stupid. He knows he dodged a bullet on this one. And with his son already doing a year, there's no way he's gonna come after you again."

"That's what they told me right before he tried to have my skull cracked open," Casey retorted.

"You'll keep up apprised, won't you, Antonio?" Boden asked.

Antonio looked at the chief. "Of course." He then walked out.

Melisa and Casey were about to leave too, but Boden stopped them. "Hey. Do not get drawn back into this." He gave them both a stern look. The two firefighters left without a word.

CASEY AND GABBY stood in front of everyone in the conference room. They were gonna play out a scenario for the sexual harassment and sensitivity training— because of the allegations against Kelly.

Melisa sat by herself and wasn't really paying attention to what they were doing. She was worried about Amber coming back. And with Voight being out of prison, she kept thinking he would come back too. She sat with her arms crossed, looking out the window.

Casey cleared his throat. "You look very nice today." They were reading from their cards.

"Thank you."

"A bunch of us are gonna get some beers after work. Care to join?"

"Sure. Yeah. That sounds fun."

Casey looked at the instructor. "Keep going, or..."

"Please."

"Okay," Casey mumbled.
