AMY HAD BEEN deep in her thought and hadn't noticed her partner approaching her desk. He said her name a few times before she was brought out of her daze. He had no idea what she was thinking about. "Oh, hey."

Jay chuckled at her response. "Hey, to you too." He held out a cup of coffee. "I thought you could use a pick-me-up, and I wasn't wrong."

Amy accepted the cup of coffee, mumbling thanks before taking a sip. Jay sat on the chair next to her desk. He had a coffee on his own. "What's on your mind?"

"I broke it off," she said after a brief moment. "With Spencer."

Jay didn't want to show it, but he was relieved. He never liked Spencer. "What about the ring?"

Amy shrugged. "I don't think I'm ready for that yet. Especially after everything that has happened. I've been thinking about Erin too. I'm worried about her."

Jay voiced his agreement. "She was closest to Nadia. They lived together."

"Have you talked to her?"

"I tried, but she isn't saying anything. She doesn't want to talk about it."

Amy let out a sigh. "I'm going to talk to her again. Do you wanna..." she trailed off.

Jay nodded, understanding what she wanted to ask. "Yeah, we can talk to her together."

Hank had set up the whiteboard and was ready to start the briefing, even though Erin wasn't there yet. Commander Perry was there. "All right. Here's the deal. Commander's nephew's caught up with some bad police out in Jackson Park. This is sergeant Dave Roland and his Narcotics Unit. Over the past year, they've been ripping off drug dealers in their jurisdiction. Until last week, when they crossed into our backyard, robbed a stash house for 200k."

"Yeah, I got a buddy from high school, used to work out that way as a sheriff's deputy," Antonio stated. "Said the motto on the side of the Jackson Park patrol cars should read, to steal and neglect."

Just then, Erin walked in with a coffee cup in her hand. She removed her sunglasses and apologized for being late before settling down by her desk.

Hank watched Erin. He was worried about her, just like everyone else. "Sergeant Roland used to be CPD. Some of you may recognize his name. His father was deputy chief. He had his son placed in Narcotics straight out of the academy. Everybody knew he was bad news back then. Got jammed up, excessive force charges, but before he could get stripped, his old man had him shipped out to Jackson Park to save his career."
