MELISA STOOD IN THE locker room. She was in her tank top, looking for her t-shirt that was somewhere in her locker.

Just then, Gabby appeared at the door. She stopped in her tracks, and her eyes widened when she saw the bruises on Melisa's arms. She was worried. Carefully, Gabby stepped out of the room.

It was bad. And if her suspicions were correct, she had to be careful.

Melisa put her t-shirt on, and then the alarm went off.

Truck hurried to the house. A woman was standing outside. She was mad and was yelling. Melisa followed her lieutenant inside.

"Sir, gotta move out of here," Casey told the man. He was just standing there.

Cruz looked over at the small fire. "That's it?" He sounded annoyed.

"Hit it."

"Anything to piss off the engine," Otis mumbled. Cruz put the fire out.

"Hey," Melisa approached the man. "You gotta go."

"I can't," the man told her. "My hotplate caught on fire. My landlord will kill me. I got no place to go. I can't go. I can't, I can't." He shook his head.

Casey came up with a plan.

He escorted the man out of the house, his fellow firefighters behind him. "Ma'am," he called out to the woman. "Is this your place?"

"You damn right it is."

"Is that your microwave down in the basement?"

"Oh, what of it?"

Casey took his helmet off. "Frayed electric cord that started this. The place would've burned to the ground if not for this man. He's a hero."

Otis walked up to them. "Sir, I just want to say I've never seen a civilian act so bravely." He shook the man's hand. With that, they left.

"HEY," Gabby walked up to Melisa. They were in the firehouse.

Melisa turned to Gabby. "What's up?"

Gabby was hesitant. She felt awkward bringing it up since they hadn't known each other that long. "I saw you this morning. In the locker room. You had bruises on your arms, and I got worried." Melisa visibly tensed at her words. "Is there something going on?"

Melisa shook her head. "No. Nothing's going on."

Gabby didn't believe her. "I know that we barely know each other, but I'm worried. And if something is going on, there are people you can talk to."
