*Alora POV*

I used to love when people used the expression, "in a perfect world".

Using it in a way on things people wished were different, things people hoped for, dreamed for.

In a perfect world, Sebastian would have never killed Solomon.

In a perfect world, the gates would have blasted opened back in the ministry. Allowing me and Sebastian to escape. Allowing us to live a life as outliers, running away from the ministry for as long as we lived.

In a perfect world, I would have wiped out Imelda's and the Headmasters memory, to make them both forget about Sebastian's crime.

But in a perfect world, standing in front of Anne once again, she would have come running up to me. Hugging me, kissing my cheek, crying profusely into my arms as she went on and on about how she missed me.

But just like everything else, in a perfect world, it does not exist. And one way or another, it has a way of slapping you back to reality.

Hard.

SLAP!

I stumbled back, grasping my cheek. Looking into Anne's fierce eyes.

"ANNE!" Ominis yelled, stepping in the middle of us.

"Don't you dare, ANNE ME, Ominis Gaunt!!" She scolded.

I huffed out a breath. Rubbing my cheek.

Merlin...... when the hell did she get so bloody strong....

She tried moving around him, ready to slap me again before Ominis grabbed her arm forcefully. Pulling her back.

"Enough! I was the one who convinced her to come!"

"I. DON'T. CARE! She has no right coming back here! Nine years Ominis! NINE!" She yelled, yanking her arm back and bending down to grab the towel on the floor.

"She's not wrong...." I said lowly.

"Now hold on just a damn moment-" Ominis spoke behind his shoulder.

"See! EVEN SHE KNOWS HOW FUCKED UP IT IS!" She yelled, pointing at me.

"Anne-!"

"What!"

He sighed, "Please.:... this wasn't exactly the reaction I'd-"

"What reaction did you want Ominis! What would you expect from me!? To run into her arms crying how happy I am to see her!!!!"

"You just said last night-!"

"I was intoxicated! Of course I said things I didn't mean! For heaven's sake Ominis!"

Ominis face hardened. I could already feel the tension coming off the both of them as the air felt thick, sticky, unwanted.

"The fact that she can even stand here in front of me after what she did!" She scolded.

My eyes met with hers. The menacing regret rolling off of her.

"Anne-"

"Would you STOP defending her-!"

Ominis threw his hands up in disbelief. This fight must be reoccurring for them. When I thought it would have been the other way around, Anne defending me when Ominis would have been the one against me. The tables were now flipped.

"I'm not going to have this argument anymore with you! Damn it! Regardless of it being nine years, she's here! SHES HERE!"

She walked into Ominis face, almost touching noses as her eyes filled will something I've never seen in her eyes before.
