*Alora POV*

"Alora, I'm serious."

"As am I Ominis, you owe me this."

He scoffed, rubbing his face as the flood of anxiety started to roll off his shoulders. The thought of going back home I was sure was enough to make anybody's blood crawl.

"Owe you? Owe you?!" He pointed at me, "How in merlin could you even say that! I went and had to use an unforgiveable curse on an innocent person Alora just to get information for Sebastian! For you! I owe you nothing-!"

"You owe me for lying! Damn it! I spent years looking for any type of way of trying to get him out of there and to no avail! If this place is true, then we might have a chance of saving him-"

Ominis threw his hands up in the air, clearly in shock of the fact I'd ever be crazy enough.

"Alora, please. Think about this. Walking back into my home isn't just a bad idea, it's a death sentence! Every single time I walk in there I'm owed a service to them in whichever way they see fit! The repercussion of this could be even worse than just using a damn curse on her!"

"I don't care Ominis! Whether you like it or not, I'm going. If there's any chance of getting him out of there, I have to try-"

He came up, grabbing me by the shoulders. Shaking me slightly like he had gone mad, trying to release the crazy idea from my mind.

"Do you EVEN hear yourself! Breaking him out of Azkaban would literally force you to live in exile for the rest of your life Alora! It would be an automatic death sentence! A criminal for life!!! Why do you think I hid it from you!? So you wouldn't have to make these types of choices! This isn't what Sebastian would have wanted!!!"

I grabbed his hands, taking them off me slowly. Seeing the hurt in his eyes.

"It doesn't matter what he would have wanted. I'll stop at nothing......until he's home..........."

"Please........... don't do this. You're only hurting yourself. How can you expect me to just sit by while you run into fire...."

I sighed, watching as the light in his eyes dimmed. His hope of a normal life for me diminishing.

"It's only in the fire do I feel warm, Ominis........ You know this."

"Please, you can't do this............. Please, I beg of you....." He pleaded.

It was betrayal in the beginning. Hate with no love, only leaving behind a selfishness that clouded his mind. But now......... I could see a path. A wild, unspoken, ruthless path of uncertainty but with a bleak of a small light of hope.

If I could pull this off, if I could even try............. then at least my efforts wouldn't be in vain. I could then live a life where I knew every possibility had been wiped off the board. And maybe then........ just maybe I could find some peace.

I walked up to him, not wasting a moment more of this.

I grabbed Ominis shoulders, crashing him into my body as my hands went around his shoulders. Hugging him close to me. Catching him off guard.

His body stilled at first, not reacting at all until I felt his warm hands come around my back. His breath slightly in my neck as he held me close.

I leaned my cheek on his shoulder, embracing him as much as I could. Squeezing him till I felt like we both couldn't breathe.

"Thank you......." I whispered.

His hands went into my hair, feeling the long locks that cascaded down my back.

"I'll never forget this........" I said softly.

He sniffled, releasing him from my hold finally. Using some force to get him to let go as I took massive steps away.

"Alora-Wait!" He yelled at me, trying to catch me.

But it was too late.

*

When I landed back on hollow ground, hearing the streets behind me, the sound of the hustle of the city, I knew I had reached my destination.

I had only heard about the Gaunts estate and where it was located while I did work at the ministry. Only learning later Ominis had acquired a home not too far away. Given to him by his family as tradition to keep the family in the same area. Keeping the area under as much pressure as possible on the ministry. Keeping them on a short leash, keeping them really at arm's length.

I don't normally just walk up to people's homes, coming unannounced. But being an Auror had its perks, already giving me an edge to my situation.

The crows barked at me from the dark fence line stretching out past the property.

Not a single soul in sight.

When I reached the door, I grasped the snake insignia door handle, hearing it creek from the pounding sound that echoed throughout the mansion.

With or without him, I could do this.....

I had to......

For him.....

When the door opened, an older gentleman probably in his 30's opened the door. His black hair slicked back, a cigar in his mouth, a mischievous grin on his face as his dark eyes looked me up and down. Licking his lips slightly, his arm leaning up against the door from the top.

"Well... well..... now what do we have here, hm?"

His voice sent the sick shivers down my spine, already making me feel on edge.

I didn't have to guess who this was, I already knew.

Marvolo.......

This sick fuck already had my skin crawling from the rumors of how dangerous and mentally disturbed he is. The rumors of his torture tactics that he used on his victims spread wide..... as to why he's not in Azkaban still to this day surprises me. He's father protection must keep him in place......

"Marvolo......... what a surprise-."

He smirked, "Is it really though? Who else do you think would open this door then?"

It's all a game.......

"Well.... I was hoping I could request an audience with your father."

The smirk immediately fell from his face, eyeing me suspiciously.

"Now why would an Auror, like yourself.... want to do that?"

I gulped, leaning slightly forward.

Would intimidation even work here....

"That.......... is none of your concern.... Gaunt."

He stood a small step forward. Eye level now with me as he buffed out his chest, his dark eyes glaring down at me. His other arm reaching to the other side of the door. Blocking my way through.

He chuckled lowly, "If I were you... I'd step off these steps before you do something you regret..." He said through his teeth.

The ancient magic flowed through my veins, looking up through the bangs of my hair that shadowed over my eyes.

All I could see was-............ RED.
