*Alora POV*"Would you take a walk with me?" I asked Ominis.
His eyebrows fixing up at my question, the loud banter going off in the corner as Sebastian and Anne laughed about an old childhood memory being told.
Things had been odd the day after Anne showed up only a day later. She cried in Sebastian's arms for so long when she heard what happened, then immediately wanting to kill me, then hug me and Ominis to death after.
Seeing her eyes light up with relief when I had chose to not go through with the wedding. Her eyes fill with hope as she looked toward Ominis.
I felt like my heart was sore as she looked at him. Maybe jealously coursing through me. But I swallowed it down, trying to get my head straight.
There's been a some slight tension between me, Sebastian and Ominis. Only because we all refused to have the difficult conversation, we were all just still so stubborn. And the last thing I wanted was Ominis and Sebastian's friendship to be affected by my actions only days ago.
He breathed, "Sure."
I turned to Anne, catching her eye. "We'll be right back." I told her.
She bit the inside of her cheek, but I just smiled. Hoping it gave her some hope that I wasn't going to change my mind again.
It was early afternoon, the sun just starting to descend down to the earth. A chilly breeze had started to pick up as summer would soon be coming to its end. Soon enough the leaves would start to change, the sky would grow darker as the days became shorter. But I loved fall.
I love the celebrations of Halloween. I loved the pumpkin lanterns and when the children would dress up. I loved the smell of the coffee on a brisk morning as you stepped outside. I didn't get to experience much of it the last few years in my search for Imelda. But maybe.....maybe this year my luck would change.
We walked in some silence as we passed through the town, hearing the children play down the street as the leaves skid across the cobblestone pathways. I didn't even realize we had ended up the hill, overlooking the vast ocean as the waves crashed against the cliffside.
I breathed, letting the summer air fill my lungs, the scent of the sea. A chill running through my veins, the hair on my arms standing to attention from the thrill.
"You like it here.....don't you."Ominis said.
I turned slowly, just looking over my shoulder to see him only steps behind me.
"Yes....." I breathed deep again, "...it's peaceful..... don't you think so?" I asked, taking a seat on the edge. Letting my feet dangle off the sides. I turned again, seeing him stand there like a statue, his eyes faced out towards the horizon. "Sit with me?" I asked.
He hesitated for a moment before giving in, sliding in slowly next to me. His feet now dangling off the edge too.
We sat in silence, feeling the vibrations of the waves, the soft wind pushing back our hair. It was calm. Peaceful. As it always should be.
I swallowed, "Do you remember the scriptorium?" I asked.
He chuckled, turning his cheeks just slightly in my direction as the blink of his wand finally was put to rest. "Not necessarily a memory I hold to my heart Alora."
