*Alora POV*
Present day
The walk to wherever Garreth was taking us made my feet want to start to bleed against the concrete. We had maybe walked over an hour, the rain barely let up and after a while we decided we couldn't wait any longer to go to the Ministry of Magic. It was getting darker by the second, and regarding what Garreth told us, it was high security with little time left to explore it. We'd manage to hopefully slip by with the remaining people leaving at their end of day shift, which meant that could be an opportunity for us to slip by without being noticed. Hopefully.
The rain pelted against our backs, wishing I had brought an umbrella. Soaking my hair as I hugged Anne against me, trying to shield her as much as we could.
"Garreth! How much longer of this!" I asked.
"Not much farther!" He yelled over his shoulder.
The streets became busier than normal, pushing past the multitude of people as we continuously got bumped into.
"There!" Garreth yelled.
I looked up, noticing a red telephone booth. It stood behind a white building, out of line of sight from the passing people moving along on the sidewalk.
Garreth ushered us in, cramping into the small space as me and Anne were pushed up against the glass.
"Garreth!" I whined in discomfort.
"Hold on, give me a second! Relax!"
I watched him pick up the phone and dial the numbers '62442' and hang up.
"Hold on." He said quickly.
"To what!" Anne yelled.
The telephone booth started to shift downwards into the dark. Noticing the ground start to change from asphalt to black coded walls.
My eyes sailed around the large entrance of the Ministry. It had black and gold, a touch of green tiles all over the walls. There were metal tables off the side, which curved into a large oval of the room. The daily prophet newsletter being flown over the head of the telephone booth as a line waited to enter. Off to the side, people were using floo powder to leave.
Garreth turned to me, tapping on my shoulder as we finally planted on the ground safely.
"Whatever you do, don't talk to anybody." He said.
Me and Anne both nodded to him, stepping outside the booth as three or more people ushered inside, trying to get a spot through it.
I grabbed Anne's hand, her following behind me as we stepped through the main entrance. On the walls and ceilings where tiny little windows, full of departments in which people were still working. Using their wands to shift over pages in their books or using it to stamp down on the parchment.
"Keep up!" Garreth yelled from behind him.
"Slow down Garreth, you're going too fast!" I shouted.
I followed him down a small hallway, turning a short corner where an elevator waited for us.
He opened up the gates, ushering us inside.
Within seconds, the elevator blasted off. Unfortunately for Anne, she wasn't quick enough. Landing against the wall as she dropped down onto the floor.
"Anne!" I shouted, grabbed ahold of her as she rubbed her face.
"I'm alright, I'm fine!"
I rolled my eyes at her, feeling the elevator shift again but this time downwards. It felt like we were freefalling as I closed my eyes. Hoping too not be sick.
