Infestation Breakout

The Mushroom Kingdom citizens were buzzing about the upcoming visit when suddenly, a shower of incredibly cute creatures rained down. One toad caught one in his hands as it looked at him with its deep eyes. He was just about to pet it when its mouth enlarged and ate a huge chunk of pie that the toad was eating. Luigi was adding the final touches to his garden when a cloud of bugs swarmed around it. Luigi blinked a couple of times to find broken stems and leaves with bite marks where the beautiful flowers and grass once stood. "NOOOO NOT MY GARDEN!"

It seemed like everywhere you went there would be a swarm of bugs, eating anything in sight. The five friends arrive to watch the massive display. "What do we do now? They're eating all the food in the kingdom!" Meggy then realized "THE BANQUET!!!" She rushed off to defend the food preparations, as if the visit wasn't ruined already.

Four was trying to think of something, anything to do. He suddenly got a bright idea. "I know! I can use my meme powers to command them not to eat the food!" He concentrated real hard and a wave of energy flew through the bugs. They all stopped eating once the blast went through and stood in silence.

They all watched in awe as not a word was spoken. Mario piped up "Look what Mario got!" He wanted to show them the tambourines he acquired, but once again he was ignored. In a grumble of frustration, he ran off again.

One bug went up to a piece of food and sniffed it as Four held his breath. Now came the moment of truth. It shook its head in disgust and Four let out a huge sigh of relief. Just when it seemed like the command had worked, instead the bug ate a whole crate. Turns out that spell had backfired. Another one joined in, taking a huge bite of a sign. Countless others followed as they ate walls, chairs, tables, even some citizens.

Three glared at Four and said "Hey it worked. They aren't eating the food anymore." Four chuckled nervously and replied "Whoops. Guess I still need more practice on that one." Melony suddenly had a horrified expression on her face. "Oh no. If they get inside my house..." She bolted off immediately as there was something in there that was too important to be chewed up.

Unfortunately, Melony arrived too late as she found the bugs eating the one thing she was so worried about. "AXOL'S MANGA!!!" The poor girl watched as countless drawings, comic strips, and other artwork she had to remember Axol by was destroyed in those vermin's mouths.  With no plan left, she backed into a wall and started screaming. "Mario will save you!" She watched in amazement as Mario came in to grab...a flute? He then ran off, leaving Melony to resume her moment of panic.

Meggy took out her splatshot gun and narrowed her eyes. "No bug is going to torture my friends like that!" She watched as the swarm came up, getting ready to fire. Too bad she didn't witness the new appetite for them earlier as they rushed past her and ate the whole structure of her house. She dropped her gun with her mouth hanging wide open. "Didn't see that coming..."

Four had raced back to the castle to find a swarm of bugs had gotten inside here as well. Peach and Toad were hiding under the stairs screaming "HELP!" Four just freaked out as he watched all his hours of hard work go down the drain. "They're eating the USB's that hold my videos!" One in particular had gotten its greedy little mitts on Four's computer. That was the last straw for him. He yoinked the bug by its wing and raced off to the forest. Not to return the pesky little thing, but to get help from a friend.
