Melony's Beautiful Wings

It was almost time for the competition so Three and Tari headed up to the Mushroom city where the event was being held. "Try not to screw this up." Three told Tari as they went inside to look for where to check in. Many competitors were chatting excitedly about what they were going to do and of course, the grand prize.

Just then, the two of them ran into Bowser, who also had signed up for the competition. "Well well well...my old friend Smg3." Three rolled his eyes and muttered "Hello tubby..." Bowser loomed over him and said "Face it, you fail all the time at your sucky plans! That award is as good as mine! That bomb blast of yours is nothing but phony baloney. You'll never do that in a million years."

"Wait just a minute!" The two turned to see Tari, trying her best to assert her dominance. "He is going to do it."

"No he's not because there is no such thing."

"Then watch him and see for yourself!" Bowser laughed and said "Oh don't worry, I will!" Her waved and yelled "See ya in the winner's circle Smg3!" He roared in laughter and walked off while Three hung his head. Tari excitedly told him "Did you see that? I was so confident." He sighed and said "Bowser's right. I'll never pull it off." Tari put a hand on his shoulder and attempted to encourage him.

"But Three, just because you've failed at the bomb blast...quite a few times doesn't mean you won't be able to do in front of all those adoring people." Her inspiring speech only seemed to put even more pressure on Three as he pushed her back and started freaking out. "WHAT AM I GOING TO DO!? EVERYONE'S GOING TO SEE ME FAIL! MR YEAST WILL NEVER LET A LOSER LIKE ME JOIN AND I'LL BE BANISHED FROM YOUTUBE FOREVER!!!"

In a agape mouth, all Tari could spit out was "Mel-"

"Mel? Who the hell is Mel!? Are you going to help me or not!?"

"Melony?" Three swing his head around as beating, radiant wings were attached to Melony's back that looked like they belonged to the most beautiful butterfly ever known. "Melony are you....flying!?" Melony nodded and said "I sure am! Aren't they wonderful. Four made them for me" Three and Tari just stood there speechless with their mouths hanging open. "Why are you so shocked? We couldn't leave our friend without some support."

"What do you mean we?" Melony pointed as Mario, Meggy, and Four all walked up behind her, waving. "You really came to encourage me...?" He was not expecting this from them, even when he made it clear that Tari was the only one who could come. "We sure did!" Mario cheered as he hugged Three in a tight embrace and apparently was wearing an eyepatch. Three noticed that him and the others were all wearing some weird getup. "Uhhh...what are you wearing." Mario played with his eyepatch while bragging "Mario's pretty sexy isn't he."

Four told him "I found a spell that could get us temporary disguises for twenty four hours. Melony's was a bit tricky as you can see." He pointed up as the first thing you noticed about her was the giant butterfly wings. "And we came to cheer you on!" Meggy added. Three tapped his index fingers as he said "I guess I was a little nervous, but I guess it's nice to have you here or whatever." He tried not to show it, but he was so relived his friends had come to help.

Three perked up all of a sudden and pointed behind him. "We've got some time before the completion. Why don't we go do some sightseeing first." They all agreed as they managed to sneak in with those passable disguises. It was a little peculiar that the ticket guy was staring weirdly at Melony, almost like he was distracted by something about her.

As they walked through and admired all the sights, some of the competitors stopped to stare at something they admired as well. "Those wings are gorgeous!" Melony giggled and said "Thank you!" She decided to start spinning and twirling with her wings which was bothering Four. "Careful with those wings Melony. Butterfly wings are extremely delicate and can break easily if you're not careful."

"Don't worry Four. I will!" Meggy tried to get her mind on some more uplifting things. "I would love to get some samples and souvenirs." Mario's eyes gleamed as he cried "Ooooo I hope they have spaghetti!" He dashed off towards the food stands before anyone had a chance to stop him.

By the time they had caught up to him Mario had gotten some pasta from a spicy food stand. "Mmmm yummy." He swallowed the whole thing, plate and all until his tongue started to feel incredibly hot. "MAMAAAAAA!!!" He ran off to find some water in a panic before his tongue melted from heat. "Anywaaayyysss..." Three was about to move on until he saw Bowser talking with Melony. "Where'd you'd get those wings! I want some!"

"I'll have to ask my friend about that."

"MELONY!" She turned to find an angry Three approaching her. "Oh hey Smg3." He pulled her away from the huge turtle and said "What are you doing talking to him!" Melony assured him that Bowser was just admiring her wings and was actually quite nice. Three grumbled and said under his breath "Yeah right..."

"Yeah! You should just forget about the bomb blast and just get yourself some wings like these!" Bowser laughed and walked away as Three looked down once again. Tari felt bad and said "Come on guys. Let's go see some other sights." As they walked Tari told Three "Don't listen to him Three. I just know you're going to win that competition."

"Have you been paying attention at all the past thirty minutes? I can't do this at all! I might as well just give up now." Meggy and Four shared concerned glances with each other. Three wasn't one to quit halfway, even if he was doing something stupid and reckless.

He was becoming quite intimidated until he saw that one thing was missing. Where was Melony? Three noticed a crowd of people and pushed through to see Melony, ignoring Four's warnings once again and flaunting her wings immensely. "You're too kind! I don't mind pictures at all." The others saw how frantic Three was getting so Four took Melony aside and said "Melony. We're supposed to be helping Three. Could you just forget about your wings for one second?" Melony pushed him aside in a friendly kind of way as she flew up into the rays of the sun. "Just a few more minutes please."

As the sunlight reflected off the wings, a beautiful rainbow light shone down on the adoring crowd as everyone gasped, including Melony. Four snapped out of his trance when he saw Three on the ground, shaking. "Are you okay?" He asked while kneeling down to check on Three. He rejected the concern by slapping Four's hand and retorted back "Of course! Everyone is so in love with your stupid wings that they won't notice when I totally screw up the competition!"

Someone in the crowd piped up "Hey! There's an idea! You should enter the competition!" Melony tapped her chin in thought and said "These wings would look amazing in a performance. Maybe I should compete." Three got up in a instant. "WHAT!?" Melony flew off to go sign up while her entire legion of fans followed. "What am I going to do now!? I'll never win now!" Three was filled with stress and pressure as the others tried to calm him down.
