Skating is harder than it looks

Despite that setback, Four was still determined to help in someway. He, Bob, and Eggdog went over to the lake to find Mario on ice skates. As he was spinning around, he noticed them and waved. "Hello Smg4!" Four was actually quite intrigued with the tricks that Mario was doing. "Wow Mario. I didn't't know you could skate." Mario stopped at the edge of the pond and said "Thanks! There's a lot you don't know about Mario."

He then glided across the ice, replying "Mario was assigned as the lake scorer! Whatever that means." Knowing him, he was probably given the job so he wouldn't bug his friends. "Well that certainly is a lot of work. There are quite the number of lakes in the kingdom."

"Tell Mario about it." he said with a look of boredom. This was his breakthrough. Four innocently asked "I don't suppose I could help you could I?" Mario's eyes started to gleam as he hugged Four. "THAT'S A GREAT IDEA! MARIO WOULD LOVE HIS BEST FRIEND'S HELP!" He pointed to a extra pair of skates and went back to skating along the ice. Four was happy to help and was confident that this would be the way. He sat down to remove his boots and put on the skates.

As soon as he stepped onto the ice, all that confidence drained out of him. He was wobbling and shaking, trying not to lose his balance and fall over. Mario glided past him, making it look so easy. "Uh...maybe on second thought-" Eggdog tried to encourage him by barking happily while Bob just glared at him. "BRUH WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! DO YOU WANT TO HELP OR NOT!" He pushed Four onto the ice with a extreme force, sending him across the lake.

Mario instantly noticed and tried to help. "Don't crash!" Thanks a lot Mario... Four tried to turn, but the action was so strong that he crashed into Mario, they both crashed into Bob, and all three of them crashed into a pile of snow. They all opened their eyes to see they made the shape of a snowman. Eggdog rushed over to see if they were alright, sniffing the snowman. Brushing the snow off, Bob laughed and fell to the ground. "LOL YOUR A DISASTER! YOU'RE MAKING MORE PROBLEMS THAN HELPING!"

Four got up, but was still not discouraged. "That's not true! So what if I crashed!? It was my first time skating after all!" Mario replied "Yeah! Mario's first time was almost as awful as Smg4's!" Four rolled his eyes and said "Thanks...I guess." Mario gave him a patient smile and inquired "Did Mario make you feel better?" He nodded and mumbled "Yeah..."

It wasn't Mario that cheered him up, it was his determination that kept him going. That was one of the great things about Smg4, but determination wasn't going to help him score a lake. Mario then got an idea that was surely going to lift Four's spirits. "Mario knows! Tari could use some help with the animals!" That might actually work. "Well I'm quite good with memes and that's kinda like animals. Yeah! I'll go help her!" He stepped back on the ice and slipped down the wrong way. "Uhh it's that way?" Mario pointed in the opposite direction.

Four came hurdling back and crashed back into the snow. "You can keep the skates. I don't think I'll be skating again for a long time."

Heading back up a hill, they found Tari ringing a bell and peeking into a hole. "Hello sleepyheads! I hope you had a restful sleep, but it's time to get up because spring is coming!" Some cute little hedgehogs came out, yawned and went out to find some food. Four smiled sweetly and said "How cute!" Tari returned the gleaming expression. "This is my favorite part of the whole season. I get to see all the wonderful little friends out from their hibernation." Bob looked quizzically at Tari and asked "WHAT'S HIBERNATION?"

Tari tapped her chin for a few seconds and said "It's like a long sleep. Animals will sleep through the winter and eat less food to save their strength." Bob seemed quite pleased with that answer. "I DEFINITELY LIKE THE IDEA EXCEPT FOR THE LAST PART." Tari and Four laughed until her face slipped into disappointment. "Oh look at all these dens...I'm worried that I won't be able to wake all the animals up in time."

Four bravely volunteered as he said "I'll help Tari!" She perked up immediately. "You will? That would be wonderful." She gave them the bell she was carrying and went off to another spot. Four looks around and pointed to a den just up head. "How about we start there." They got up to the den, but once Eggdog sniffed it, his ears perked up and he ran behind a tree to hide. "What's wrong Eggdog? I'm sure whatever's in here is friendly."

His attempts did little to calm the pup down as he sensed something dangerous was in that hole. Four rang the bell and called out "Hello! Wake up! Spring is coming!" He couldn't wait to see what kind of cute, furry creature he had awaken. As it came out a chill went through his body. "SNAKES!!!" He very quickly backed up, but all the way into a cave.

A bunch of bats flew out as he ran out, crashing into the tree Eggdog was hiding behind which startled the dog. A hive of bees came out yelling "YOU PICKED THE WRONG HOUSE FOOL!!!" They chased him all the way to another den. This one was filled with skunks. Tari came up to see what had happened along with Bob and Eggdog. "Good morning friends." She waved to the skunks that came out while the other two watched Four groaning inside. Could he do anything right?
