I keep thinking back to that night. That night Alastor showed me his secret refuge. That night he told me more about who he was and the deal he wanted to get out of with Lilith. The night we danced, and he asked if he could be the one to kill me. You know, things normal couples talk about, right?
I always thought I would die of something more natural. Old age preferably. But if that wasn't an option maybe something common. Cancer, car crash, sky diving accident, or Hell I'd even take house fire if I had to. I believe most pass out from the smoke before burning, so hopefully that would be painless. But no, apparently my preferred way of death at this point is to have my dead mass murderer boyfriend be the one to plunge a knife in my chest. Assuming that's how it's done... do I want to ask?
We may not even need to resort to this! I pace around my hotel room as I think it through, my arms wrapped around myself. Things may go perfectly fine! Alastor is the most powerful overlord in Hell. As I am right now, I'm one of the most powerful beings residing in Hell. We could succeed perfectly unscathed.
"Little lamb." I hear his voice before I realize he's standing in front of me. He has both hands holding my arms, stopping me from pacing. I look up at Alastor, snapping out of my own thoughts. "You seem worried, are you okay?" Alastor questions me. He does look concerned; I can see it in his eyes.
"Sorry, yeah I'm fine." I try to put him at ease, unfolding my arms and placing my hands over his. "Just thinking about things I shouldn't." I explain.
"About today?" He asks.
"The possible outcomes because of today's events." I clarify. So, he's not entirely wrong.
"I figured that would be on your mind." Alastor has really become more vulnerable around me. He puts his hand on my cheek, the other on my shoulder. "This isn't your battle." He begins. "We don't have to move forward. If this isn't something you want to risk, I completely understand." He looks away for a second before looking back at me. "I know putting your life on the line is terrifying, no matter how that happens."
"I'm thankful for the concern. But I want to move forward." I reassure him, smiling. "We're going to get you out of your deal. No matter the outcome I'll still be here, right?" I figure this is a creative way I can confirm our earlier decision and reassure him that I understand the possible consequences.
"I'm going to do everything I can to make sure you are here just as you are." Alastor places a kiss to my forehead. I was expecting some sort of follow-up statement, but there wasn't. He stands up straight and holds his staff in his left hand. "I've never tried this before, are you ready?" He asks.
"Ready!" I confirm. We talked about the plan for today a few times. I know what to do. I hold my hand out as if I'm ready to make a deal with Alastor. He shakes my hand with his right hand. He's surrounded by a green glow and his antlers have grown to a larger length. His face is a bit different and looks like it's trying to keep itself together with that same green glow. I wonder if this is what my deal looked like with him when I was drunk before.
Though we didn't make an actual deal, his staff is gone. The idea was that we both agreed that I would hold the power of his staff and I would temporarily store it within myself. Like a hidden power bank! Though I didn't realize holding this much power would make me feel like this.
I'm on my hands and knees and I feel like I'm going to vomit. I'm not sure if I was built to hold this kind of demonic power. I can feel my fingers tightening on the carpet. I can't lose this!
"I was worried about this!" Alastor announces as he's on his knees next to me, hands on my back. "Give the power back! It's too much!" It sounds like a desperate demand. I know he doesn't like seeing me in pain or seeing me struggle.
I don't want to give up yet. It's uncomfortable and everything inside me is telling me to get whatever this virus is out of me. But I keep willing myself to hang on for five seconds longer. When those five seconds pass, I tell myself five seconds more. I continue this train of thought until the discomfort dies down. After some time I feel like I'm able to move again. Alastor is still next to me.
"How do you feel?" He asks, helping me up to my feet.
"Fine. A little different, but fine." I look at myself. I look the same. I'm not sure how to describe this feeling. Maybe a little heavier? But I don't look like I've gained weight.
I think about those small demon creatures that Alastor was able to manifest during his fight with Vox. I point to a spot on the carpet and my thought becomes a reality. One of those little creatures is standing in front of us.
"It worked then." Alastor laughs. I slash the air, making the small creature disappear. "Good job, little lamb." He praises me.
"Part one done." I confirm, looking back at Alastor. "Ready to start part two?" I ask him.
Alastor nods. "I'll see later." He leans over and gives me a kiss. "Stay safe. Have a little fun if you want." He recommends. "But not too much." He clarifies.
I can't help but laugh. "See you on the other side." I say before realizing what that could actually mean. "I mean... you know what I mean!" I roll my eyes as I leave the room.
As I make my way to the main lobby, I see that the hotel guests are doing what I can only assume to be some sort of trust exercise where they are pushing each other off a ledge. She actually did it, Charlie made trust pushes an exercise.
I don't interrupt, so I watch the festivities while helping myself to a beer from behind the bar. Once they're done with their activity I walk up to Charlie, clapping. "That was well done! Who would've thought trust pushes would be a fun and engaging activity." I laugh.
Charlie seems both delighted and slightly thrown off that I'm even here. I guess I can understand that considering the last time I was out in the lobby. She nervously laughs. "Yeah, well I've had the idea for a long time and after thinking it through some more we found a way to make it work." She explains, her hand behind her head.
"It looked beautiful." I compliment again. I can see that she's nervous. We have to fix that. "I don't mean to bother you, but after our last discussion in the lobby, well..." I look away from her and sigh. "...Alastor and I haven't been agreeing very well about what's the best for me. It's getting uncomfortable being around him." Maybe I'm becoming a better liar. Charlie puts her hand on my shoulder, looking concerned.
"Oh (y/n). I know that must be hard." The Princess of Hell does have a heart of gold. If she wasn't born to Lucifer, she'd be an angel in Heaven for sure! "We'll get my dad and get you where you belong." She smiles at me. I know she wants to redeem as many demons as she can. Is that what I am now? A demon? Maybe now that I have demonic power. Does she know?
"Before that..." I interrupt, holding my hand over hers. "Do you think we can go out for a girl's night, just one more time before I leave?" I ask. At first it looks like she doesn't know what she wants to answer. "Me, you, Vaggie, Cherri, Angel if he'd like, Niffty if she must..." I explain further. "...I'd like one more fun night before I have to go. Is that okay?" I ask her.
Charlie thinks about it for a little bit before smiling. "I think that's reasonable." Lovely.
