My first night at Lockwood safe house went by in a blur, Tom had finally met his daughter, and everyone seemed in fairly good spirits...For now. The first thing I remembered the next morning was waking up in a strange bed next to someone who's arms were wrapped around my waist with their wavy black hair in a mess and covering their eyes. I smiled suddenly remembering the previous day and just how I found myself in the bed. I snuggled closer until I felt content that I was close enough and began to work on getting back to sleep, only to have Amber's cries sound from the room next door, I waited a moment to see if her cries would eventually stop and she would fall back to sleep it was only around six thirty and too early for anyone sane to get up if they had the choice, however, to my disappointment her wails only grew louder and so with a groan I made to get up.
"Where are you going?"A sleepy Tom's voice sounded from beside me nearly making me jump five feet in the air with fright.
"To see what Ameber wants"
"Hmm" Was the only reply I got before he stole my pillow and put it over his head trying to block out the cries of the infant. Rolling my eyes at his childishness I crept next door to the little nursery where Amber slept and what I was met by left me in a state of shock. There stood holding my child in their arms was the pale, bald man from the day before.
"W-what are you doing?"He turned his head over his shoulder and looked at me as if to say 'what are you doing?'.
"Amber was crying and so I came to see what was the matter"
"Um...thank you"Unsure of what to do I stood awkwardly watching him gently pat Amber's back until she went quiet and fell back to sleep in his arms,he seemed far to knowledgeable to not have had children of his own.
"Do you have any children?" I tried as hard as possible to make my question not sound like a desperate way of escape from the awkward silence, but failed miserably.
"One, a daughter"The sad smile on his lips made me feel guilty for having been so cold to him before.
"Whats her name?"At that question he seemed to tense, it was also then that I began to panic inside, what if his daughter had died and he didn't like to talk about it? Realizing my mistake I fixed it as smoothly as possible.
"You don't have to answer that"A moment later and Tom stumbled through the door causing the man holding Amber to go even paler,if that was even possible.
"Hey Clara, I realized that it was stupid of me to let you tend to Amber alone-" Tom paused when he saw that Amber was in fact not in my arms and froze.
"Who's he?"
"Um I don't really know but its ok,he helped you out" Looking back at Tom's face he looked anything but ok at that moment, he seemed to go into overprotective parent mode and take Amber from his arms.
"Thanks but would you be so kind as to leave."The nameless man nodded and took one last look at me and Amber before brushing past me and exiting the room.
"He didn't need to leave..."I muttered under my breath, half hoping Tom would hear and half hoping that he wouldn't.
"I really thought you knew better than to let just anyone hold our daughter"
"Tom she was perfectly safe, I was in the room"
"And if he had tried anything, what then?"He asked as he tucked Amber into a pink, wool blanket inside her cot.
"You were right next door, the house is full of death eaters, if he had tried anything there would have been backup"I replied desperately trying to see the situation from my point of view.Surely he knew that I loved Amara more than anything. But being overprotective he gave me a look and stormed out, slamming the door behind him so I knew just how annoyed he was about this. I turned to leave but caught Amber out of the corner of my eye push the blanket of her tiny body and move over to the side of the cot, clutching the bar to help her stand up.Turning back towards her she grinned at me her blue eyes lighting up and what black hair she had with a mind of its own."Amber!"I squealed in happiness and picked her up, allowing her to give me a wet kiss on the cheek. My baby girl had actually stood up, ok it wasn't on her own but still it was a good sign. Her eyes moved over to the door where her father now stood watching curiously and when he noticed I had seen him, he walked straight back out of the room, this time more careful to close the door quietly.
"Oh sweety what are we going to do with daddy?"
Hey guys,so sorry if this isn't very good/ boring to read I just really wanted to update but couldn't really find a way to finish it. Please let me know what you think otherwise I don't really know what I can do to make my story better. And by the way yeah I know this story is really long but I am planning to do a time skip soon so that it doesn't go on too much longer and become the longest fanfic to be written! Thanks for reading and I hope this wasn't that bad...Have a nice day/morning/afternoon/evening/night!
