The spring ball

I winced as I undid the bandage to check on my wound which thankfully was now healing.The wind blew my hair and I looked out onto the black lake from the astronomy tower where I had been spending a lot of time since Tom had left for God knows where.

"Clara I thought I would find you here"As I turned around I saw that Charlus was leaning against the rails of the steps.

"What are you doing here?Do you have nothing better to do than spy on unsuspecting girls?"He smiled and shook his head.

"It seems not"I rolled my eyes as I began to walk towards the steps.

"No! Please just hear me out"He put his arm in the way to stop me going down the steps.

"Very well"I replied turning back around and wandering away from him.

"I noticed that Toms been gone for a while now and the spring ball is coming up soon-"

"Let me just stop you right there,Charlus let me tell you something,never doubt Tom after all he may have been gone for a while but it seems that you not only have been spying on me but Tom as well.Seeming as your not in any of his classes how would you notice he was gone if you were too caught up in your own life?"I smirked as he scanned his brain for a reply only to have nothing and look back at me.

"Well,its quite funny really I have an eye for missing people it happens a lot really"Charlus seemed please with his excuse and seemed to relax a little.

"Ugh don't even bother giving me that one I have heard it all before"I pushed past him and began down the steps desperate to get away from him.

"So are you going to come with me to the ball then?"Charlus turned around to look at me as I slowed down and came to a stop.

"No!"I replied frowning at him and leaving the astronomy tower,catching a snippet of him talking to himself.

"And that's why she is a Slytherin"I smirked and walked towards the great hall where dinner was being served.I had been keeping an eye out for Tom but he was nowhere to be seen by Malfoy,Lestrange or any of his other "friends".

"Clara where have you been?I have been looking for you everywhere"Penelope frowned and crossed her arms over her chest clearly annoyed.

"I know you haven't or else you would have checked the astronomy tower,I know you came here first,its ok though I know your love of food is too great"I took a seat on the bench next to her and began to eat the mushroom soup only to have her still glaring at me.I huffed and turned back around to her.

"Whats up with you?!"She looked like she was about to lose it and I grimaced deciding I wasn't hungry anymore and so pushed my food away.

"Nothing"I hissed getting agitated by everyone.

"Oooh sounds like someone is on her time of month"Penelope replied curtly and I faked smiled turning around to the headmaster who was asking for silence. 

"Now I am sure you are all looking forward to the spring ball which will take place next weekend,but as I am not so very experienced in this I will let Professor Mcgonagoll take over"Everyone clapped as Professor Dippet sat back down and Professor Mcgonagoll took his place in front of the podium.

"Concerning partners me and headmaster Dippet have decided it was best for you to go only with partners from a different house,following the worrying reports we got back about the houses students"Everyone groaned and I realized that I would have to go with Charlus after all.As soon as the speeches finished and everyone was dismissed I rushed back to the astronomy tower to see if he was still there.He was and he turned around with a smirk on his face,I rolled my eyes and walked towards him with my hands on my hips.

"What are you smirking at?"I hissed and his smirk widened as he played with his fingers.

"I knew you would come back here"

"And I knew that you would still be here!Anyway I have something to tell you.The school has just announced that we have to go with someone from another house to the ball and as you so politely asked me it would seem you are getting your wish,I will go with you to the spring ball-"Charlus smiled running towards me and pulling me into a bone crushing hug.

"Ok you can let go now"I pushed away from him with a frown on my face but his smile did not falter,he was way too happy about this.

"I will go with you on the condition that you promise not to try anything on me-"I paused when I saw that the boy before me was daydreaming.I walked up to him and smacked his cheek.

"Ow!You hit me!"He lifted his hand to his cheek and I rolled my eyes.

"Man up!As I was saying you must promise not to try anything on me-"I was about to go on but he interrupted.

"Which includes?"I wanted to wipe that smile of his face but decided I had hit him enough for one night.

"No kissing,inappropriate touching and certainly no love potions put into my food or drink.Agreed?"I stuck my hand out for him to shake but he groaned.

"And I had been making that love potion especially for the spring ball"Now it was my turn to groan.

"Will you shut up,and how on earth would you even know that I was going say yes?!"

"Well-"He began and I started towards him angry,he backed away with his hands up in surrender.

"How did you know?"

"Oh I overheard Mcgonagoll and Dippet talking about it"I rolled my eyes and shook my head.

"You are hopeless, you really are"I replied and he chuckled.

"Well,are you agreeing to my terms or not?No love potions,inappropriate touching or kissing!"

"Fine! Alright don't get your nickers in a twist!Agreed"Charlus shook my hand and straight after I rushed for the exit.

"So I will see you around?"He called out cheerily and I shot him glare.

"See you at the ball then!"
