Your next breath was stuck in your throat.

"Really?" You ask.

"Is that even a question?" Levi gave you a look.

You gave an embarrassed smile and hid it away with a shrug of your shoulders and a flip of your hair. "I-I guess not."

"Good. Now can I go back to sleeping?"

With a sigh, you watch him lay sideways on the bed, facing away from you. You tiredly yawn.

When Levi gave no response, you yawned again. Louder this time. "Fine, you can stay." He grumbled. "You'd better not kick me- or I'll kick you out."

You happily snuggle under the covers, just inches away from his warm body. But a wave of guilt hit you.

While Hana was dying in the Infirmary, here you were- happily laying down next to Levi in bed.

But your happiness conquered your guilt.

You stared at Levi's back for a few moments before pulling the covers up, and falling into a deep sleep.

___

You woke up drowsily.

You stayed in bed, but looked over to your side. Levi was sleeping with an oddly but cute expression on his face. He seemed at peace, and his lips were almost curled into a smile.

You snuggled deeper under the covers, and looked over at him. He was facing you, his hand- you suddenly realized- was touching yours.

A flurry of emotions flew at you.

'What should I do?'

'Pull away?'

After slightly freaking out, you decided to not move your hand. Just in case he woke up.

'I'll tell him I didn't want to wake him up. That's a good excuse.'

You started to close your eyes again, but you heard people running in the halls- just outside of Levi's room.

'Oh dear god- please still be a heavy sleeper, Levi!'

You shut your eyes tightly.

After they were gone, you opened one eye slowly. Levi was still sleeping- but in a different position this time.

The side of his warm body was touching yours.

Your ears burned bright red, and you let out an inaudible squeak of surprise. 'Now how am I supposed to nap?!'

You just wiggled under the covers again, your face still bright red. You felt the bed shifting next to you.

You held your breath.

And you were relieved when you heard the soft breathing of Levi. You closed your eyes again, but they shot open when you heard his murmurs.

"(Y/N)..."

"...Titan...do...n...t..."

You were puzzled.

"Don't...leave...me."

Your eyes widened and his words rang in your head. 'Levi?'

You peered at his face, which was inches away from yours. A surprise greeted you. Tears were streaming from Levi's eyes.

___

When you woke up, you decided that you definitely had enough sleep. You slipped out of bed, noticing Levi was already gone.

With the image of his sleeping self with all his tears still fresh in your mind, you ran down the hallway- looking for your heichou.

After a few minutes of running around, and a few more of procrastination, you found Levi patrolling the streets.

"Lev..." You gently said, following him into a dark alley. "How long have you been having those nightmares?"

Levi stayed parked in the alley, his back to you. Then he suddenly made a 'tch' sound, and leaned against the wall.

"They started up again." He said. The words he had spoken were so soft, you were doubting if you really heard them at all.

"But for how long now?"

Silence followed your question. He was too stubborn. "For how long?" You repeated.

It took a few moments for him to answer.

"Ever since you came back."

A sad look came to your face. "Why? Can I do anything to help?"

Levi glanced at you. "There's nothing you can do. I've gotten used to it now." He pushed off the wall, giving you a smirk.

"And now that you're here- why don't you patrol the streets, (Y/N)?"

You sulked as he pushed you out onto the streets. "I just hope I don't meet any rock-throwing ladies." You muttered, loud enough for him to hear.

You turned around, expecting him to follow you out. But Levi was gone.

Heaving a great sigh, you flounced out of the alley, slightly startling a small child.

You strolled the busy street, passing by a few children. A cry for help caught your attention.

'Already?!'

"Don'tcha want to come and have some fun with us, pretty lady?"

Your eyes narrowed as you spot not one- but two Military Police members harassing a girl.

"Hey." You approached them. "What are you doing?"

"Fuck off." One man said, clearly drunk. The other, smelled also of alcohol. You felt like turning around and running away.

'I hate that smell.'

"You wan' have fun too?" He slurred.

You gave him a pleasant smile. "Not unless fun includes ripping you two's throat off if you don't stop."

He grinned crazily. "Of course, of course." He continued patting the girl, who cried out.

Your face twisted into disgust, and you kicked him in his side. He laughed, and patted his side, too drunk to do anything.

His friend, who didn't seem as drunk, glared at you. His hand moved to his blade, and took it out.

'Run,' you mouthed to the girl, who didn't need to be told twice. She quickly ran away, almost leaving a trail of dust behind.

You ducked as the man swung at you with his blade. "Missed me." You smiled softly at him as you dodged again.

"Missed me again."

The man swung at your face. You had already lifted your blade, blocking him. "Oh please..." You kicked his lower area, causing him to keel to the ground, rolling and groaning in pain.

"You guys are terrible. Tell me- do they train you people at all?"

"Or do you just stand there and look pretty?"

You sheathed your blades, feeling a pair of eyes on you. But when you surveyed the area, you didn't find anyone.

With a shrug, you left.

"I'll...be sure to inform them..." The first man croaked, causing you to turn back and give him a murderous smile.

You couldn't hold back anymore, and punched his ugly face.

"Oh really?" You lifted his head up by tugging his hair. "I'd like to see you try, mister."
