"Look, (Y/N)!" Your dad grinned as he held up a spade. "This is my most prized spade."
"It's your only one, too." You stated, flatly.
He stuck his nose in the air with a huff of annoyance. Kind of reminding you of a child, you allowed a small crack of smile to appear on your lips.
"So what? I've had this ever since I was forty." Father replied, indignant. Taking a sip of his tea, he looked at you in a fond annoyance.
"It's so unusual to talk to someone. Usually, it's just me by myself."
'...ouch.' You didn't look at him as you awkwardly took a small taste of your drink. "I can't help it. You know I have things I need to take care of."
He chuckled, and looked at you, embarrassed. "You're right- you're already a young woman." The aging man scratched the back of his head, "it's not fair for me to tie you down like this."
'Damn,' you opened one eye to look at him, quizzical. "Alright, alright. Out with it- you just want me to spend more time with you, right?"
Your father studied you. "I suppose...but now that you're a grown woman, when am I going to be able to hold my grandchildren?" He changed the topic, entirely.
Almost unable to hold in your drink, you managed to gulp it down. "D-d-dad!"
___
You should have remembered that there was nothing to do here. Bored, you could only lean backwards in the uncomfortable chair to face the sky.
Father was crouched to inspect his 'garden.' It was either that, or just a plot full of dead plants that he kept on display, and insisted that were alive.
The sound of a horse approaching caused you to turn your head towards the sound. The figure that approached you made your eyes widen.
'Jin? Is that Jin? It looks like him...but what if it's just a random stranger?'
Yet, indeed, there on his chocolate horse was just him. The young man's pale eyes glittered as the sunlight caught light. He pushed his brown hair out of his eyes to look at you more clearly.
Those soft eyes of his grew wider and wider with every growing second. You almost crashed to the ground after failing to maintain the rickety chair's balance.
"Ahaha, Jin!"
Your father's voice cut through the air like a sharp blade. He looked up at the young man with fondness. "You're right on time!"
'What?'
"...Dad?"
"Sir," Jin managed a smile on his now colorless face. "Excuse me, but what is your daughter doing here?"
Your dad had a sunny smile. "She's finally visiting. Thank you for making the long trip." Jin shook his head at this, causing his brown hair to fly. He jumped off his horse, and led it to the makeshift stable.
"You know I always make this trip." His voice drifted closer.
You shot him a questioning look as he appeared from under the wooden stable.
"I always visit your dad every month." Jin explained, sheepishly. "Oh! Why don't you just stay the weekend like (Y/N)?" Your father suggested, brightening.
"W-what? I can't possible..." Jin stuttered.
'What are you doing, you old man?' You couldn't help but think, as you studied the aged man. 'Don't you dare make him-'
"No, it's fine!"
'Dammit.'
"You two lovebirds should be together more often, after all!" He chuckled, happily. "And now you finally get a chance to! It's fine, Jin. You can stay in (Y/N)'s room with her. I trust you two won't be having any," he raised his eyebrows, "...night time activities."
And that's the first time you've ever considered raising a hand against an elder. Jin shot you a nervous look. "Yes, um..."
"I need a drink," you fibbed as you grabbed Jin's arm and practically threw him inside the house.
"Don't mess around too much!" You heard your father's gloating laughter float inside- until you slammed the door shut and giving Jin a dead-on glare.
Jin flinched and sighed. "You need a lie, don't you?"
Crossing your arms, you stubbornly acknowledged this. "So what?"
"I'm just here to provide you with it." Jin's eyes flashed as he raised them quickly. "You don't want him to find out about the Survey Corps, right?"
'Why do you care? It's none of your business, anyway.'
What you had been thinking must've shown on your face- for Jin gave you a dry look. "Ever since I took you in after your injury, your dad likes me around."
"I visit him every month because I think he's an interesting person to be around. Don't get over your head, thinking it's to get closer to you."
You pulled a face at this.
"He's obsessed with the idea that you're currently living with me back inside the safer walls. I wasn't listening to what he had been saying, and pretty much agreed to everything he had said."
"And that includes...what?"
"...Sorry, I'm your boyfriend for the week, I guess."
