Later that night, as you were getting ready for bed, you suddenly realized how calm everything had been.
Especially with the Titans.
And that fact, alone, made you extremely uneasy. Grabbing Mr. Bunny, you sat on your bed, trying to calm yourself.
"This world is really scary, isn't it? Mr. Bunny?"
Imitating what you thought his voice would sound like, you responded, "you're a scary-cat, (Y/N). Man up!"
"Don't patronize me!"
'That's it. I'm officially going insane.'
The door creaked open, just as you finished the sentence. With a bright red face, you watched as Levi- with a face full of confusion and amusement- stood there.
Quickly setting Mr. Bunny down on the bed, your gaze turned to him. Before you could speak, however, he snickered. "Still talking to stuffed animals?"
You watched him take a spot by you on the bed. "I wasn't sure if you were going to come or not," you started.
"Why wouldn't I come? My girlfriend just invited me to talk."
Staring at him, you could see that the bright tips of his ears were red. "Lev...you're blushing?" Your voice was quiet.
"Yes, what about it?" He demanded, turning away.
"That's...really cute." Flatly, you told him this. Coughing, he shook his head. "What did you need to talk about?"
"U-um."
'I don't really want to talk about it anymore...'
'It's not like I'm chickening out, or anything.'
"(Y/N)." Levi's voice was serious now. "What is it?" He leaned closer to you, his eyes staring straight at you.
"There's something I need to ask you," you managed, nervously.
Surprisingly patient, Levi's expression turned to one of worry.
"It's, um..."
"About that time when you said you didn't know Asuka..."
Almost as if you had untied a balloon, Levi deflated. "I thought you were talking about something else for a moment."
"Something else?" You questioned. "I thought you called me here to break up." Levi said, flatly. "But I can see that's not the case," he drove a hand through his hair, the tips of his ears colored pink.
"What about that time?" Levi cautiously shifted on the bed, his hands smoothing out the creases on the bed sheet, absentmindedly.
"Is there any chance you were lying?" You asked, bluntly, your fingers tangling themselves together. "I mean-" You cut yourself short, and took a deep breath.
Lifting your head upwards, you stared straight into Levi's dark, confused eyes. As he noticed your nervousness, he responded, with gentleness.
"Yes, I was. How much do you know, (Y/N)?" He asked, moving forwards. "Did you visit him?" Levi asked, quiet. "Did he do anything to you?"
"How much do I know...?" You studied his expression, which was filled with something that bared a resemblance to pain.
"If you barely know anything- that's okay. And if you've figured out a lot, already- that's alright, too." Levi said, with a smile. "Because I know you'll figure them out soon. Don't be in such a rush, (Y/N), it's reckless to know too much."
Although you didn't understand at all, you nodded. "Asuka- I mean, Jin- I talked to him today." Levi's frame tensed, almost as if he was an animal being hunted. "Did he say anything strange?"
"...strange?" You asked, almost to yourself.
His words flashed in your mind, "Dammit, I really hate this. But if I made you love me once- I'll definitely get you to love me, again. Because that's how much I believe in it."
"Uh, no."
Levi raised an eyebrow. "Really?"
You tried to laugh as realistically as possible- however, it only sounded flat and sarcastic. As your voice died down, Levi was practically eyeballing you.
"Promise," you said, avoiding his eyes.
Levi's hand rubbed his eyes as he stared at you. "So this is what you called me for? Just to confirm that I was lying?" He was about to stand up, when your hand snatched his wrist.
"Wait."
He glanced back, "what? I'm busy."
With a sharp tug, you managed to catch him with surprise. He fell back onto the back, and you climbed onto of him.
"What is it?" He asked, staring up at you with his dull eyes.
"I need you to tell me more."
Levi raised an eyebrow. "Huh? Are you stupid? Didn't that idiot Jin tell you, already? You made us promise-"
"I know, I know," you answered, desperate. "But I need answers, Levi. I don't want to be in the dark anymore."
For a split second, an unrecognizable expression appeared on Levi's face. "No." He refused. "I don't care whether you don't remember making me promise or not, but..."
"I made this promise to you. This is something I'm definitely not going to break." Levi said, as if you needed a clarification.
The Corporal easily sat up, and you were forced to shift positions. Your eyes followed him as his figure straightened.
"Okay."
As the words left your lips, you stared into his sunken eyes. "But I'll definitely make you tell me one day."
Levi's lips curled into a soft smile. "Okay." He said, gently, as he dropped a hand on top of your head.
"I'll look forward to it." He leaned in, and placed a small kiss on your forehead.
