Hurrying down, you stole a quick glance at the paper in your hand. Scribbled upon it, was an address. Asuka's address.
Stopping in front of a small but tidy house, you knocked against the hard wood.
Once...
Twice...
And the door opened. A tired looking man stood in the doorway, yawning. "Hel-?"
"(Y/N)!" He exclaimed, surprised. "Come in! Come in!" All of a sudden, Asuka seemed a lot more awake.
"I'm so sorry," he apologized, taking a hand through his light brown hair. His pale eyes swept through the cluttered room.
"No no," you hurriedly said, "it's alright. My room is usually this messy, too."
He smiled, shoving a few papers aside, so you could sit. "Here- sit down, sit down."
Asuka took a seat across. "What are you doing here?" He asked, curiously.
"I have a question," you hesitated. "How do you know Levi?"
An irritated look flashed through Asuka's expression before it quickly disappeared.
"Levi..." He hummed to himself, "how do I know him?"
You were taken aback by the expression he had. 'I've never seen him look like that before...'
"Levi and I go way back," Asuka stated as he leaned backwards. "We were in the same trainee group together."
Your eyes went round.
"There were another two memorable girls," he added. "I guess you could call us inseparable." Asuka chuckled.
Time seemed to slow down. You leaped up, slammed your palms down on the table, and gave him a long, hard look.
As the name left your lips, you could see his eyes getting bigger.
"Jin."
Now, it was his turn to look surprised. "I haven't...heard that name in a long time." He sighed, nostalgic.
"You remember me? Or was it just from the clues I supplied?" He smiled, beautifully.
"I'm sorry- I just remember you from the clues." You ignored the loud sound of your heartbeat.
"You knew me? Even back at that court?" You asked.
Asuka- or Jin looked at you. "It was difficult, since you really changed the way you look."
You turned pink. "Thanks. Jin- or Asuka...?"
"Just call me Jin. It's much easier this way, right?"
"Ah, I suppose..."
Jin nodded. "So what are you here for...? Just to confirm who I am?"
"No. I wanted to ask if you can tell me everything that happened when we were trainees."
His eyes sparkled with curiosity. "You want to know? Do you really want to know?"
"I want to regain my memories."
Jin closed his mouth tightly, and he smiled plainly. "I'm sorry, I can't help you with that."
"What-?"
"Once, you told me something before. You had a nightmare, in which you had forgotten everything. You woke up in a panic, and researched everything on amnesia- in fear that you would get it."
He chuckled without humor. "Who would've thought that you actually would get it?"
"Upon your research, you came upon a book in which you had apparently read that revealing the truth to others will cause great shock, and that shock could lead to depression, and even death."
Your eyes widened.
"So you told everyone- Levi, Hana, and I- that if you ever lost your memories...We would promise to not reveal the truth, and wait for you to recover."
"Really? I said that?" You tilted your head at his words.
Jin had a smile on. "Yes. With seriousness."
"I see. I'm sorry for not being able to remember," you said, upon seeing his expression.
"It's alright." He gently said, "even though you're the one that's in the situation, you can still make it about others." Jin softly murmured, "there's still some part of the old you."
Before you could speak, he peered at you. Jin was so close, you were a flustered mess. He leaned in closer still, making you protest.
"H-hey, Jin!?"
Slowly, he pulled back, a small leaf between his long fingers. "You had something in your hair."
"Right...t-thanks." You managed to reply, trying to make your heart calm down.
"Calm down," Jin said, soothingly. "I won't do anything more than that. Your expression right now, would make Levi murder me." He got up from his seat to wash his hands.
'What does he mean by that!?'
Your knees drew closer to each other, and your hands clasped together. "What do you mean by that?" You could still feel the heat in your cheeks.
"Do you really want me to say?" Jin dried his hands, and leaned over you, your back touching his chest.
"Y-you said you wouldn't do anything." You prompted, hoping your voice didn't sound as weak as you thought.
"I did," he sighed, "but I really can't help it, when you say something like that."
As he finished speaking, you turned around in your seat- facing him directly. A dark shade of red covered his cheeks, as he stared into your eyes.
"Honestly, you're just so cute." He smiled, gently. "It's a shame you're Levi's."
"I'm not anyone's."
Jin's pale eyes swept around the room as he slowly straightened up. "You are dating the Corporal, aren't you?"
With an unwavering gaze, you replied, "yes."
"Seriously, talk about a waste," Jin spat. His words were almost like sharp blades, while his expression was of one with an amused look.
"Is it because you found him first? That you choose him?" He asked, tilting his head. His pale skin glowed in the sunlight from the windows. "Man, if only I was faster."
"Jin...?"
"Dammit, I really hate this. But if I made you love me once- I'll definitely get you to love me, again. Because that's how much I believe in it."
Jin wore a self-appreciating smile. "Anyways- congratulations," he said quietly, as his eyes met yours.
