Chris's POV

"Haa... I believe we've rejected that offer though?"

"Yes, we've heard that from the village chief but we hope you might change your mind once you take a look at the young ladies in our village. Please! Just once! Just take a look at the young ladies once!"

While Ren-chan was taking a shower, the innkeeper came to pay us a visit. He told us he had something to discuss with the three of us, Ren-chan not included. So Fer and I went to the innkeeper's room. He offered us to take a seat but we refused. We just stood there as he started talking, or to be more precise, begging us. He had both of his hands clasped in front of his chest, pleading to us. Fer sighed, he looked obviously angry when he became quiet like this.

With my arms crossed, I leaned against the door, listening to what he had to say but...

This man, is he an idiot?

"My daughters are 25 and 20. My son is 19. It might sound biased coming from me but I think they're not bad looking. You can do whatever you want with them for a week, you know?!"

"Aren't they your own children?! I know each village might have their own customs but don't you think you're being a bit too cruel to your own children?"

We couldn't leave Ren-chan alone in the room while he was taking a shower so after a rock-paper-scissors game, it was decided that Sig would stay in the room with Ren-chan.

But I guess we should've just ignored the innkeeper's request back then.....

I left all the talking to Fer but... Ah... I guess it might have been a mistake to rely on Fer too much.

When the innkeeper tried to practically sell his own children to strangers, Fer became enraged. He tried to keep a poker face but from his voice alone, I could tell he was seething with rage.

"Now, now, let's calm down first, okay Fer?~"

Even though Fer wasn't the type to extort any violence outside of quest or training, but I couldn't just leave him be, especially when he was this angry. I didn't know what might happen so for the time being, I decided to intervene and patted his shoulder from behind to try to calm him down.

"Ohh! What about you? Do you want to give my children a go?"

For some reason, the innkeeper took my action as a positive response. His eyes were gleaming as he asked me that. It seemed for this person, it didn't matter if it was Fer or me. Any A-rank adventurer would do.

"Huuuuh?~ Come on, can you look at this? See?~ We are both wearing our engagement cuffs, you know?~ Oh, but I'm not engaged with Fer by the way. Our fiancé is the cute petite boy we're staying with. There's no way we would want to touch someone else when we have such an adorable fiancé around, right?~"

In order to shatter the innkeeper's futile hope, I pushed my hair behind my ear to reveal the engagement cuff that was hidden beneath.

With someone as cute as Ren-chan as our fiancée, there's no way we'd even glance at someone else, right?

"Bu-But I've already called them here."

"Called...?"

Wiping the sweat on his forehead with a cloth that seemed to appear out of nowhere, the innkeeper confessed in a somewhat flustered manner.

Suddenly, I heard someone knocking at the door.

"We're coming in!~"

The door was swung open before we could even say anything and two girls and one boy entered.
