“Do not take life too seriously.
You will never get out of it alive.”
– Elbert Hubbard
Our mind often creates self-destructive thoughts for reacting to situations
that are undesirable.
Most of the problems that we create for ourselves are due to the fact that we tend to take ourselves very seriously.
Yes! If something out of the ordinary happens to us, we immediately lose our peace of mind and get agitated or grief-stricken depending on the problem at hand.
We are socially self-conscious. Most people fail to accept this.
Extroverted people can successfully and gleefully thrive within a group of friends or people, can even be the dominating member. But, they cannot, for one hour or so, be alone with themselves. Being alone just freaks the
hell out of them. Simple events like walking from the home to some place because the bike is unavailable – that person might need a phone or someone to virtually keep them occupied.
The million-dollar question here is, ‘Why
certain people cannot be able to spend time with themselves without
anyone’s (friends) or any things (mobiles, laptops) help?’ The answer: they consider and take things about themselves seriously. They suddenly become self-aware. They are afraid to be seen alone. Afraid of whom exactly? No one knows, not even them.
Similarly, for introverts, every single change that crops up in their routine way of life, causes inner-panic, confusions and baseless thought trains. These people are capable of living alone with perfectly fine mental state. Yet, when it comes down to some sort of social interaction, pure bedlam reigns their mind.
They are proactively self-conscious members of the society. They check the way they look, talk, walk, express things, to make sure that those are socially acceptable by those who are around them. They would be extremely careful not to become a topic of debate or small talk to those who are around them (friends, family, colleagues, etc).
Why so much inner-conflicts? Why is our peace-of-mind so much short-lived? Where are we going wrong?
We think we matter; we think the problems we face matter; we think the money we earn and the wealth we build up, matters; we think beauty matters; we think success matters; we think failure matters; we think everything matters.
Is it so? Is that the truth? No. In fact, it is the largest lie that we have ever created.

The sad part is that this pitiful lie has spread to every nook and corner of the world that it actually has taken a place far more powerful
than any other force. It makes us believe that we matter. It urges and sub-consciously programs us to take ourselves and our joy and grief seriously.
Why do you need to take yourself seriously when no one actually takes you seriously?

Everyone has priorities. It is just based upon your position on that ladder, how the other person treats you.
You lose a project in your job, and suddenly you feel out of sync with the world. You have put the project in a very important place to give
yourself a high esteemed self-image.
Always remember, nothing lasts forever. This is the hard fact that everyone must learn to digest sooner or later. The key to maintenance of inner-peace is that, ‘Never take yourself so seriously.’
In this huge world, you are a drop; your problems and joys are merely infinitesimal droplets. Remember that. Always train your mind to bedown-to-earth and non-expecting.
When you realize that you are no greater than the illiterate middle aged man sitting beside you in the train or the old lady who cleans the house, you would realize what sort of a dreadful cage you’ve been locked in so far.
Free yourself. Be kind and gentle.
Every good change and bad change that you face in your life will have no power, to control your emotions if you achieve the humble-self. This is the most important lesson that everyone (President of a country to a common daily wager) must and should learn.
When you begin to realize that you don’t matter, then all your troubles will vanish without a trace. Worldly possessions will have no foothold over you.
Embrace the ‘new-you’ that you are going to set free into this already sick planet as curative, with open arms.
