Regulus quickly assimilated into the Marauders, becoming one of them despite all his differences. They were quick to invite him into their shenanigans after a while. Being the day of the full moon though, Regulus decided to hang out with Evan and Barty due to his recent neglect.
He found the couple sitting together outside the greenhouses, in a secluded corner, likely making out before Regulus got there.
"Regulus? We thought you were dead, or worse. Re-sorted into Gryffindor. Mary says you've been getting in the Gryffindor common room alone, how do you get away with it?" Barty asked, separating himself from Evan.
Regulus shrugged, "Either McGonagall hasn't seen me or she doesn't care, plus the Gryffindors really don't care who goes in their common room, they're used to it already. Sorry for not hanging out with you recently though, I had to sort some stuff out."
"You should be," Evan crossed his arms, "Its like you've completely abandoned us for those bloody Gryffindors." Evan sighed dramatically.
"Evan, its only been a day since I've seen you last." Regulus said.
Evan pouted, "Fine then, go be with your new friends, we don't need you anyway, right Barty?"
Regulus rolled his eyes, "you're so dramatic, I'm sorry that I spend my weekends with my boyfriend and my brother. You get to spend every day with your boyfriend and your sister, plus if Barty were to take a side, he'd take mine, right Bartemius?" Regulus replied, then looked over to Barty expectantly.
"Sorry Ev, Regulus is my first love, if things don't work out for us I need him." He joked and linked arms with Regulus. the two pretended to walk off, swinging their arms as they left Evan behind by the greenhouses.
"Fine! You're forgiven Reggie, give me back my boyfriend." He yanked on Barty's arm and pulled Barty close to him like a material belonging,
"Hey if you keep treating me like an object I might start feeling some kind of way." Barty said and the trio burst into laughter.
"Do you think we'll be able to hang out during the summer?" Regulus asked, "I mean Evan, if your dad finds out what I did, there's no way he'll let you near me, especially since you're already on strike one from Barty last year."
"You think he could stop me? The only thing keeping me in that house at all is my sister. My dad keeps getting onto me about finding a girlfriend to marry so we can carry on the family name." Evan groaned.
"You have me. I make a very pretty girl, don't I? You could call me Barterella, like that muggle fairytale girl." Barty grinned.
"You're the ugliest girl I've ever seen." Regulus spoke up, "My mother sent me a letter." That got Barty and Evan's attention. they stopped giggling and looked at each other, then regulus.
"What did she say? Was it a howler, is she-"
"She asked me to come home, said she wouldn't kill me if I did - she still does need an heir, but if I don't, she wont hesitate to kill me, and most likely kill Sirius and James in the process."
"What are you going to do?" Barty asked. Regulus noticed the sun setting in the horizon, which meant he needed to find the marauders soon.
"Well, I have the Potters and Sirius. they promised to protect me, even if it risked their lives. It's just - you know what they're like, Bella, and Rodolphus, Lucius, all the death eaters, they're gonna come after me. I have their secrets and they wont hesitate to hunt down me and everyone I'm close to - even you guys." Regulus didn't even put his friends into account, "Barty... you're - now that I'm not a death eater, you're not safe. I... I put in a good word for you to the dark lord, he was suspicious of you, he wants to kill your father and wanted to kill you too, he's gonna -" Regulus's voice broke, he was in a panic, he couldn't lose Barty.
